Don ShowalterHead Coach: Don Showalter, Mid-Prairie High School (Iowa)
How do you feel about the makeup of the team?
I love the makeup of the team. I think we have several players that play different positions for us. Defensive wise, that's really big for us because we can have people switch and play other positions. I love the chemistry of this team. They really work well together, they seem to like each other and they trust each other.

Were you impressed with how quickly the team came together over the last few days?
Yes. I think as we kept progressing with each practice they felt more comfortable with what we're doing as a coaching staff and they also felt more comfortable with each other. You can tell that off the court as well.

What do you still need to work on before leaving for Argentina?
We need to work on our whole package. We need to put our full-court pressure defense in. We need our zone offense. We need to put some zone defense in. We just need to get our whole package in and have the kids understand our packages. For them, we have to do it enough so it comes naturally to them.

The committee had a hard time making some decisions, how do you feel about the group you have coming back next year?
Last night I wanted to make a point to visit with the guys we didn't ask back. Obviously they're disappointed, and if they aren't disappointed then you wonder about their talents. At the same time, I think they understood they have a lot of growth ahead of them. A lot can change in a year, and I'm sure they'll all be back here next year.

Justin AndersonJustin Anderson (Montrose Christian School (MD) / Montross, VA)
What does it feel like to make this 12-member roster?
It definitely feels different. This is the biggest accomplishment I feel like I have made in my whole life. Last night I don't think it hit me until right before I went to sleep. I was like, ‘Wow, this is big.'

Did you get an idea of what your role might be with this team?
Yeah, I kind of got an idea talking to Coach Showalter a little bit. I just want to bring energy to the team. I want to play defense as well as I can. On offense, I can score the basketball, but I'd much rather see another teammate score before I score. I just love playing defense, so hopefully that is a big key for us this year.

Has this team developed a chemistry of its own yet?
Oh yes. We all know each other from the AAU circuit. Me and Quinn, we live probably 30 minutes away from each other. It's amazing how fast we bonded. From country accents to city accents, just making fun of each other, it's great.

Have you ever traveled out of the country before?
I've never traveled out of the country before. This is my first time. It took me a lot to get my passport because I didn't know what I was doing, neither did my family. I'm very excited to go to Argentina.

What would it mean to you to win a gold medal?
It would mean a lot. Me being a 15 year old, it would mean a lot. There are 20 year olds and 30 year olds that are still out there trying to win a gold medal, and if I win one at 15, that's big. Hopefully we can go out and win this.

Did you get an idea of what your role might be with this team?
