How To Host A Qualifier

Event operators interested in hosting a qualifying event leading to the 2018 USA Basketball 3x3 National Tournament Championship may apply to obtain an official qualifying bid. Approved events will be afforded the opportunity to send team(s) to the 2018 USA Basketball 3x3 National Championship in Colorado Springs, Colorado, for the following divisions of play:

  • U18 Women

  • U18 Men

  • Open Women

  • Open Men

2018 USA Basketball 3x3 National Championship qualifying events must be approved by USA Basketball and FIBA, and the event must conclude on or before February 25, 2018. The steps below outline the application process.

STEP 1: Complete and submit the USA Basketball 3x3 Qualifier Event Application.
  • Applications are considered and either approved, denied or waitlisted in the order they are received.

  • To obtain more information including age requirements, approval process and criteria, please call 719-590-4800.

  • Applications must be submitted by January 7, 2018.

STEP 2: All applications are reviewed by USA Basketball for approval.

STEP 3: Once your application has been approved, USA Basketball will set up an event overview and planning call.

STEP 4: USA Basketball will send a 3x3 Qualifier Agreement to be signed and returned within 14 days along with a $250 placeholder fee.  The placeholder fee will be refunded after the qualifier’s team(s) participate in the USA Basketball 3x3 National Tournament.

STEP 5: Create your qualifier event on em.3x3planet.com.  For a tutorial on using the FIBA 3x3 Event Maker, click HERE.

STEP 6: All players participating in the qualifier tournament must create and confirm their player profiles prior to the qualifier.  Operators are responsible to oversee this process.

To be deemed a USA Basketball 3x3 National Tournament Qualifier, all participating players must have confirmed profiles prior to the qualifier event. Qualifier events with unconfirmed player profiles risk losing qualification status and the placeholder fee.

STEP 7: Enter tournament results within 48 hours of the qualifier’s conclusion on em.3x3planet.com to declare the event official by FIBA 3x3.

The 3x3 National Tournament bid is contingent on FIBA 3x3 declaring the qualifier as official. Qualifier events that are not declared official will risk losing qualification status and the placeholder fee.

STEP 8: Send the winning teams’ contact information to USA Basketball within one week of qualifier conclusion.
