The FIBA 3x3 Olympic Qualifying Tournament was held May 26-30, 2021, in Graz, Austria. The United States men fell in the quarterfinals and did not qualify for the Tokyo Olympic Games inaugural 3x3 basketball event. Instead, earning Olympic berths were Poland, Netherlands and Latvia.
USA Basketball made history in 2019 when its 3x3 World Cup squad claimed the USA men's gold medal at the event. In all, in the five FIBA 3x3 World Cups in which the U.S. participated, it has won one gold medal, one silver medal and compiled a 23-9 record.
Since launching international 3x3 competition in 2010, the only senior-level event held has been the FIBA 3x3 World Cup. That's about to change. Events slated to be held for the first time in the near future include the Olympics, 3x3 Olympic Qualifying Tournaments and 3x3 AmeriCups.
