Heather Mosher Awtrey returned to USA Basketball in April 2021 as a part time coordinator in the finance and administration department. She previously worked for the organization from Dec. 2004 through March 2014.
In her position, Mosher Awtrey provides administrative support to the finance department and assists with the processing of invoices and expense reports. She also assists in the daily needs of the office and helps with the processing of letters of clearance and tour sanctioning. She also will take on additional finance projects for USA Basketball CFO Brent Baumberger.
From 2016-2020, Mosher Awtrey was a reading interventionist at the Rocky Mountain Classical Academy, where she taught elementary students in small-group and classroom settings, analyzed student literacy data in order to group students by need and coordinated curriculum for the students.
In her USA Basketball position as an assistant director, finance and administration from 2004-2014, Mosher Awtrey managed accounts payable and receivable, among other accounting duties, acted as the administrator for employee benefits, planed the USA Basketball Annual Assembly, coordinated meetings of the USA Basketball Board of Directors and assisted in the coordination of various events.
From 2001-04 she was the special assistant to the executive director and assisted USA Basketball CEO Jim Tooley in numerous aspects of the organization, including coordinating meetings of the Executive Committee and Board of Directors.
Hired in 1994, as the secretary for the USA Basketball men's programs department, in 1998 Mosher Awtrey was promoted to manager of men's programs. During her six and a half years working specifically with the USA men’s programs, Mosher Awtrey aided in the organizational aspects of all men's trials, training camps and competitions, and worked with the gold medal winning 1994 USA Men's World Cup, 1996 U.S. Men's Olympic and 2000 U.S. Men’s Olympic teams, as well as the bronze medal winning 1998 USA Men's World Cup Team.
Mosher Awtrey, who volunteers at a local food pantry and in homebound outreach, earned her Bachelor of Science Degree with an emphasis in child psychology from Colorado State University in 1991. She currently resides in Colorado Springs with her husband Jason and their daughter.
