Sam Schultz began his duties as a USA Basketball youth and sport development program assistant in July 2015, was elevated to coordinator, youth and sport development division in January 2018 and to manager in November 2019.
In his current role, Schultz oversees development of the USA Basketball 3x3 program, including the USA Basketball 3x3 National Championships and qualification process for teams to advance to the national championships. He is also instrumental in coordination of various USA Basketball regional camps and organization accreditation.
As a USA Basketball youth and sport development program assistant, he helped to organize and operate youth development clinics and coordinated organization accreditation, and also managed the 2016 and 2017 USA Basketball 3x3 National Tournaments.
From September 2014 through May 2015, he was a USA Basketball Youth Development program intern, during which time he helped to market USA Basketball youth development programs, facilitate youth program outreach and curate youth development content.
Schultz also served as USA Basketball support staff during junior national team training camps in 2012, 2013 and 2014.
He was a volunteer for the Air Force athletic department from October 2012 to January 2013, where he helped with game day promotions and activities and helped operate customer service and admissions promotional events.
He was an on-field coach for the Manitou Springs High School (Colo.) summer baseball program and a bench coach for the school’s basketball team from 2012 to 2014.
He also worked for the City of Colorado Springs Parks and Recreation Department helping to maintain baseball fields and organize tournaments from May 2012 to June 2014.
A Colorado native, Schultz attended Colorado State University in 2011-12 and graduated from the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs in May 2015 with a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a sport management emphasis.
