Shop NowMaya Moore, who had a team-best 18 points in the gold-clinching win over Spain, was named MVP of the FIBA World Championship. Moore averaged 15.3 points per game and led all World Championship players with 14 three-pointers.
Diana Taurasi led the 2014 USA Basketball Women’s World Championship Team with 27 assists and was second with eight three-pointers -- five of those came in one game (Sept. 28 vs. Serbia).
Despite coming off the bench, Seimone Augustus finished fourth in minutes played for the 2014 USA Basketball Women’s World Championship Team. She averaged 9.3 points per game, including 10 points in the gold medal game.
Sue Bird became FIBA’s only women’s World Championship four-time medalist, as well as the most decorated FIBA World Championship athlete in history, male or female, having now won three golds (2002, 2010, 2014) and one bronze medal (2006).
Tina Charles led the 2014 USA Basketball Women’s World Championship Team in rebounding (8.3 rpg) and was third in scoring (10.7 ppg).
Selected to the all-tournament team, Brittney Griner led the 2014 USA Basketball Women’s World Championship Team with 12 blocked shots and was second on the team in scoring (12.3 ppg). Her field-goal percentage of .667 was the best among all players in the FIBA World Championship.
Nnemkadi Ogwumike shot 17 of 29 from the field during the FIBA World Championship – the .586 percentage was second on the team for players with at least 10 attempts. Ogwumike also pulled down 4.8 rebounds per game, fourth-best on the team.
Lindsay Whalen finished the FIBA World Championship with 16 assists, third-best on the 2014 USA Basketball Women’s World Championship Team.
