Congratulations to Coach K who now becomes Coach 1K after recording his 1,000th collegiate coaching victory.

When Duke University defeated St. John's University Sunday in New York, it marked the 1,000th career victory for Blue Devils head coach Mike Krzyzewski. In addition to his historic collegiate accomplishments, Krzyzewski has also been instrumental in the success of USA Basketball for more than five decades.

“I couldn’t be happier for Coach than I am today," said USA Basketball chairman and USA National Team managing director Jerry Colangelo. "If there was one who was going to accomplish this incredible milestone, there’s no one better qualified or who has earned it more so than Coach K. I hope he enjoys this milestone.

“He has great tenacity," added Colangelo on why he believes Krzyzewski has been so successful. "He’s 67 and hasn’t lost any of his enthusiasm and zeal for recruiting or for coaching. He loves his job. He’s perfected it to such a degree that it sets him apart.”
