After not making the first two teams for which she tried out, Seimone Augustus captured MVP honors at the 2003 FIBA U21 World Championship after leading the USA to gold. The 2003 USA Basketball Female Athlete of the Year captured a gold medal at the 2005 World University Games and was elevated to the USA National Team in 2006 for the Australia-hosted Opals World Challenge. Augustus went on to earn Olympic gold medals in 2008 and 2012, FIBA World Championship gold in 2014 and bronze in 2006, and a FIBA Americas Championship gold in 2007.

A member of the 2000 USA R. William Jones Cup and USA Select teams, Sue Bird has captured three Olympic gold medals, three FIBA World Championship gold medals, one World Championship bronze medal and one FIBA Americas gold medal. She is now tied with Hall of Famer Teresa Edwards for most combined Olympic and World Championship teams with eight -- Edwards was on five U.S. Olympic and three USA World Championship teams from 1984-2000.

Tamika Catchings first played for USA Basketball when she was still in high school at the 1996 FIBA Americas U18 Championship, where her team returned with the silver medal. She played on a total of three junior teams before joining the USA National Team in 2002. This summer Catchings will be in the hunt for a fourth Olympic gold medal in Rio. She has also captured two FIBA World Championship gold medals, one World Championship bronze medal and one FIBA Americas Championship gold medal.

Tina Charles played in the 2005 USA Youth Development Festival, but her first international event was the 2006 FIBA Americas U18 Championship, where she helped the USA claim gold. A few months after leading the USA to gold at the 2009 World University Games, Charles joined the USA National Team and helped it earn the UMMC Ekaterinburg International Invitational title. Since then, the 2009 USA Basketball Female Athlete of the Year has earned gold medals at the 2012 Olympic Games and the 2010 and 2012 FIBA World Championships.

A 2012 U.S. Olympic Team finalist, Griner was named to the 2014 FIBA World Championshp All-Tournament Team after helping the USA capture gold, and most recently she aided the USA to a 4-0 record in its 2015 European Tour.

She joined the USA National Team in 2009 and has since collected gold medals at the 2010 and 2014 FIBA World Championships and the 2012 Olympic Games. McCoughtry most recently aided the U.S. to a 4-0 slate during its 2015 European Tour.

Maya Moore's first USA Basketball experience was as a member of the 2006 USA U18 National Team that won a gold medal at the 2006 FIBA Americas U18 Championship. After being a part of two more USA junior teams, Moore was called up to the USA National Team in 2009 to participate in its fall training camp and has helped the USA to gold medals at the 2010 and 2014 FIBA World Championships and 2012 Olympic Games. The 2014 USA Basketball Female Athlete of the Year, Moore earned MVP honors at the 2014 World Championship.

The two-time USA Basketball Female Athlete of the Year has played on a total of nine USA Basketball teams, including the gold-medal winning 2014 USA World Championship Team, and most recently she helped the USA National Team to a 4-0 record on its 2015 European Tour.

A three-time USA Basketball Female Athlete of the Year, Diana Taurasi traveled to Argentina to capture gold at the 2000 FIBA Americas U18 Championship with her first USA Basketball team. After taking home bronze from the 2001 FIBA U19 World Championship, Taurasi played on her first USA National Team in 2004 and has helped the USA capture the past three Olympic gold medals and past two FIBA World Championship gold medals. She also has one FIBA Americas Championship gold medal, one World Championship bronze and earned All-Tournament Team honors at the 2010 Worlds.
