Scottie Barnes had won three gold medals and had participated in three USA Basketball Junior National Team October minicamps before he graduated high school from Montverde Academy in 2020.
In the 2020-21 season Scottie Barnes is a freshman at Florida State University, where he has started in all six games and is averaging 10.7 points, 3.8 rebounds and 4.2 rebounds per game as of Dec. 28, 2020.
Scottie Barnes first played for USA Basketball in 2017 when he helped the USA to a 5-0 record and gold medal at the 2017 FIBA Americas U16 Championship. He averaged 9.8 points, 3.2 rebounds and 2.4 steals in 14.0 minutes per game.

In preparation for the 2018 FIBA U17 World Cup, Scottie Barnes helped the USA to two exhibition wins in Argentina and averaged 5.5 points, 1.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 2.0 steals in 17.5 minutes per game.
As a member of the 2018 USA U17 World Cup team, Scottie Barnes averaged 9.5 points and 5.8 rebounds per game to help the USA to a 7-0 record and gold medal at the 2018 FIBA U17 World Cup in Argentina.

Scottie Barnes played in both of the USA exhibition games prior to the 2019 FIBA U19 World Cup and averaged 7.0 points, 2.5 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 13.5 minutes per game while shooting 63.6% from the field.
As a member of the 2019 USA Basketball Men’s U19 World Cup Team, Scottie Barnes helped the USA capture a gold medal with a 7-0 record at the FIBA U19 World Cup in Heraklion, Greece. Barnes played in all seven games and averaged 9.7 points, 4.9 rebounds and 2.7 assists in 20.4 minutes per game.

Scottie Barnes was named to the USA Nike Hoop Summit Team on Feb. 7, 2020, however, the event was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
