As a member of the 2018 USA U18 National Team, Rhyne Howard started in five of six games and averaged 8.5 points, 4.7 rebounds and tied for a team-high with 3.0 assists per game to help the USA to a 6-0 record and a gold medal in Mexico City.

Rhyne Howard was a member of the 2019 USA U19 World Cup Team that finished with a 7-0 record and captured the gold medal with a 74-70 overtime victory over Australia in Thailand. She started in all seven games and averaged a team-high 13.1 points to go with 5.1 rebounds per game.

Leading into the 2022 summer circuit of competition, men’s national team director Sean Ford and women’s national team director Briana Weiss are responsible for bringing together players and building rosters for each five-on-five tournament in which USA Basketball competes.

USA Basketball today announced 31 athletes expected to participate at the 2022 USA Basketball WU18 National Team trials at the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Training Center. Trials begin May 31 with the 12-member team expected to be announced June 3 with competition at the 2022 FIBA U18 Women’s Americas Championship in Buenos Aires from June 13-19.

Texas A&M head coach Joni Taylor will lead the 2022 USA Basketball Women’s U18 National Team this summer and will be assisted by DeLisha Milton-Jones (Old Dominion) and Teri Moren (Indiana).

After each led USA U19 World Cup Teams to perfect, 7-0 records and gold medals this past summer, Cori Close and Jamie Dixon will share the 2021 USA Basketball Developmental Coach of the Year Award.

Briana Weiss, assistant director for the USA Basketball Women’s National Team program since May 2019, has been promoted to USA Basketball Women’s National Team director .
