USA Basketball Notes:

  • Gold Medal: 2015 FIBA U19 World Championship, 2014 FIBA Americas U18 Championship.
  • Member of the 2015 USA Basketball U19 National Team that captured the gold medal with a perfect 7-0 record at the 2015 FIBA U19 World Championship in Heraklion, Greece; was named the Most Valuable Player after averaging 14.0 points, 3.3 rebounds and team-highs of 5.6 assists and 2.1 steals a game.
  • Contributed 12 points and seven assists, including shooting 8-of-8 from the free-throw line, for the 2015 USA Junior National Select Team, which fell to the World Select Team 103-101 in the 18th annual Nike Hoop Summit on April 11 in Portland, Oregon.
  • Member of the 2014 USA U18 National Team that compiled a 5-0 record, won the FIBA Americas U18 Championship gold medal and qualified the U.S. for the 2015 FIBA U19 World Championship; averaged 12.0 ppg. and a team second-best 5.6 apg.

College Notes:

  • Has signed a National Letter of Intent with Villanova.

  • 2015 McDonald’s All-American, played for the West Team on April 1 in Chicago; Recorded six points, seven rebounds, four assists in 21 minutes of action.
  • Played for the East Team in the 2015 Jordan Brand Classic on April 17 in Brooklyn, New York; Recorded   11 points, three assists, three steals in 20 minutes of action.
  • 2015 Parade All-America team.

High School Notes

  • As a senior at Adlai E. Stevenson High School (Ill.) in 2014-15, averaged 23.3 ppg., 5.3 apg., 4.7 rpg. and 2.6 spg. to help his team to a 29-3 record and an 
  • Illinois 4A state title; shot 48.0 percent from the field and 83.0 percent from the foul line; scored a 4A title-game record 30 points.
  • Set the Stevenson High single-game record with 57 points against Lake Forest High School on Feb. 21, 2014.
  • As a junior in 2013-14, started in all 34 games and averaged 26.1 ppg., 5.4 rpg. and 4.7 apg. to help Stevenson to a school-record for wins 32-2 season and a third-place finish in the 4A state tournament.
  • Scored a state-tournament record 56 points in the 2014 state semifinals, a 75-68 loss to Whitney Young High School.
  • As a sophomore in 2012-13, helped Stevenson to a second-place finish at the 2013 4A tournament.
  • As a freshman in 2011-12, helped Stevenson to the regional championship and a 17-11 record.

Personal

  • Born in New Brunswick, New Jersey. Currently resides in Lincolnshire, Illinois.
  • Parents are Sandra and Rick Brunson. Has one younger sister, Erica (14).
  • Both mother (volleyball) and father (basketball) were student-athletes at Temple University. Father went on to play in the NBA for nine years, spending time with the Portland Trail Blazers, New York Knicks, Chicago Bulls and the Los Angeles Clippers.
  • Has volunteered as a youth basketball instructor and referee.
  • Started playing basketball when he was 5 years old.
