USA BASKETBALL NOTES:

  • Named a finalist for the 2020 U.S. Olympic Men's Basketball Team on Feb. 10, 2020.
  • Named a finalist for the 2019 USA World Cup Team on Aug. 9, 2019. Withdrew from consideration for the World Cup team on Aug. 25, 2019, because of an ankle injury.
  • Recorded 7 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists in 17 minutes in exhibition victory over Spain, and recorded 12 points (4-5 3pt FGs) and 3 rebounds in 19 minutes in USA's exhibition win over Australia (8/22), 
  • Played on he victorious USA Blue Team (National) in the 2019 USA Blue-USA White exhibition game on Aug. 9 in Las Vegas, recorded 7 points, 4 rebounds and 1 assist in 9:44 minutes of action.
  • Named on June 10, 2019, a member of the 2019 USA Basketball Men's National Team training camp roster that will be used to select the official 12-member 2019 USA World Cup Team. 

NBA HONORS:

  • Named to 2018 NBA All-Rookie first team.
  • Named the Western Conference Rookie of the Month for games played in October/November 2017. Just the sixth non-pick to win the award in the first month of his career.
  • Two-time NBA Rising Stars Challenge Participant (2018 and 2019).
  • Named MVP of 2019 NBA Rising Stars Challenge.
  • Participated in the 2019 NBA Rising Stars Challenge during the 2019 NBA All-Star Weekend. Started for the USA Team and recorded 35 points (15-27 FGs), 6 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 blocked shot in 22:04 minutes of action.
  • Participated in the 2018 NBA Rising Stars Challenge during the 2018 NBA All-Star Weekend. Played for the USA Team and recorded 20 points, 7 rebounds and 2 assists in 18:54 minutes of action.
  • 2019 Skills Challenge participant.
  • Named MVP of the 2017 NBA Las Vegas Summer League championship game .

NBA MILESTONES:

  • In his 82nd career game, joined Earvin ldquo, Magic Johnson and Elgin Baylor as the only Lakers players to have compiled at least 1,300 points (1,344) and 500 rebounds (505) through that many career games. 
  • Was one of only five players in the NBA in 2018-19 to have at least four 20-point quarters, joining James Harden, Steph Curry, Damian Lillard and Kemba Walker.
  • Scored a career-high 41 points (16-24 FG) in 29 minutes versus the Detroit Pistons (1/19/19), the highest point total by a Lakers player to appear in fewer than 30 minutes in the NBA shot clock era (since 1954-55).
  • On Nov. 3, 2017, in his first game as a Laker starter, recorded his first double-double, with 21 points and 13 rebounds, in a win over the Brooklyn Nets.
  • Was the first ever NBA rookie to compile at least 330 points, 120 rebounds, and 30 made three-pointers in his first 20 games.

  • Completed in 2018-19 his second NBA season, all with the Los Angeles Lakers.
  • Has played in 147 games, started in 105 in his NBA regular season career and has compiled 4,174 minutes (32.1 mpg.), 2,550 points (17.4 ppg.), 865 rebounds (5.9 rpg.), 319 assists (2.2 apg.), while shooting 45.3 percent from the field, 33.5 percent from 3-point and 73.1 percent from the foul line.
  • Played in 70 games, started in 68 in 2018-19, averaged 33.1 minutes (33rd in NBA), a career-high 18.7 ppg. (43rd in NBA), 5.5 rpg., 2.5 apg, shot 45.6 percent from the field, 30.3 percent from 3-point and 75.2 percent from the foul line. Ranked 72nd in the NBA in efficiency (16.4).
  • As a Rookie in 2017-18, ranked second among rookies in points per game (16.1) and was the only rookie in NBA history to have at least 155 3-pointers (159) and 480 rebounds (483).
  • Participated in the 2017 NBA Summer League with the Lakers, averaged of 21.9 ppg., 6.4 rpg., 2.7 apg., 1.4 bpg., and 1.1 spg. Was named to the All-Summer League second team. Was also named the Summer League championship game MVP after recording a double-double of 30 points and 10 rebounds in a 110-98 win over the Portland Trail Blazers in the championship match.
  • Drafted in the first round, 27th overall, of the 2017 NBA Draft by Brooklyn. Later that night (June 22, 2017) his draft rights were acquired by the Los Angeles Lakers, along with Brook Lopez, from the Brooklyn Nets in exchange for Timofey Mozgov and D'Angelo Russell.

COLLEGIATE NOTES:

  • Attended the University of Utah for three seasons (2014-15 - 2016-17).
  • During his three seasons he played in 96 games, started in 64 games, compiled 966 points (10.1 ppg.), 532 rebounds (5.5 rpg.) and 141 assists (1.5 apg.), while shooting 50.6 percent, 30.2 percent from 3-point and 63.1 percent from the foul line.
  • As a junior in 2016-17, played in and started in 29 games, averaged 30.8 minutes, 16.4 ppg., 9.3 rpg., 2.5 apg., shot 50.4 percent from the field, 32.1 percent from 3-point and 66.9 percent from the foul line.
  • Selected 2016-17 NABC All-District (20) second team and All-Pac-12 first team.
  • As a sophomore in 2015-16, played in 36 games, started in 35 games, averaged 24.1 minutes, 10.8 ppg., 5.7 rpg., 1.4 apg., shot 52.2 percent from the field, 25.5 percent from 3-point and 61.1 percent from the foul line.
  • As a freshman in 2014-15, played in 31 games, averaged 8.1 minutes, 3.3 ppg. and 1.8 rpg., shot 45.6 percent from the field, 32.4 percent from 3-point and 55.6 percent from the foul line.
  • Redshirted his freshman year (2013-14).

PERSONAL NOTES:

  • Son of Karri Kuzma, a high school shot put champion who attended college on a track scholarship. Has a younger half-brother named Andre and a younger half-sister named Briana.
  • Born in Flint, Michigan. 
  • Attend Bentley High School in Michigan, averaged 17.9 ppg., 14.4 rpg., 3.8 apg. and 3.4 bpg. as a junior. 
  • As a high school senior attended Rise Academy in Philadelphia, averaged 22.0 ppg. and 7.0 rpg.
  • Graduated from the University of Utah with a degree in sociology.
