Father played basketball at Nevada-Reno and volleyball at Texas Southern; mother played volleyball at Texas Southern; cousin, Willis Reed was on the 1963 USA Pan American Games Team that claimed gold and the 1963 USA World Championship Team that finished in fourth place. He also played for the New York Knicks and was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Hall of Fame in 1982; cousin, Natasha Watley played softball at UCLA and won a gold medal at the 2004 Olympics and silver at the 2008 Olympics; cousin, the late Orlando Woolridge, played at Notre Dame, in the NBA and Italy, he also was an assistant coach for the USA Women’s National Team in 1998 and 1999.
