USA BASKETBALL NOTES:

  • Named on July 1, 2021, a member of the 2021 USA Men's Select Team that trained with the U.S. Olympic Men's Basketball Team.

  • Was also selected to round-out the USA National Team roster for its pre-Olympic exhibition games in Las Vegas. Played in two games and avergaed 2.0 minutes a game.

  • Named a member of the February 2021 USA Basketball Men’s AmeriCup Qualifying Team on Feb. 2, 2021.

  • Played and started in both games for the USA in the AmeriCup Qualifying February 2021 window, helping the USA to wins over Bahamas (93-77) and Mexico (95-76). In the two games, averaged 23.5 minutes, tied for a team fourth-best 12.0 points, tied for a team second-best 7.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.5 steals a game, while shooting 40.0% from the field, 41.7% (5-12 3pt FGs) from 3-point and 60.0% from the foul line.

  • Recorded 15 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals in 28 minutes of action in the USA's win over the Bahamas.

PROFESSIONAL NOTES:

  • Played in 2020-21 with the Philadelphia 76ers. Played in 8 games, started in 2 games, averaged 15.4 minutes, 6.0 points and 1.6

  • assists a game, while shooting 39.6% from the field, 30.8% from 3-point and 33.3% from the foul line.

  • Played in 2019-20 for NBA G League Texas Legends. Played and started in 42 games, averaged 36.1 minutes, 18.1  points, 4.7 rebounds and 3.0 assists a game. Shot 43.2% from the field, 39.5% from 3-point and 83.1% from the foul line. Named to 2020 Midseason All-NBA G League Western Conference Team.

  • Played in 2018-19 with Club Joventut Badalona (Spain).  Altogether played in 14 games, started in five games, averaged 19.1minutes, 7.6 points and 2.1 rebounds a game. Shot 41.2% from the field, 35.8% from 3-point and was 7-of-7 from the foul line.   Suffered an ankle injury that sidelined him between October and December and prevented him from playing regularly.

  • Participated in the 2018 Portsmouth Invitational Tournament and averaged 11.7 points and 3.6 rebounds in three games.

  • Played for the Sacramento Kings in the 2019 NBA Las Vegas and Sacramento summer leagues. Altogether, played in eight games, averaged 20.2 minutes, 6.3 points and 1.7 rebounds per game. Shot 30.4% from 3-point.

COLLEGE NOTES:

  • Played four seasons (2014-15 to 2017-18) at Purdue University.

  • Played in 141 games, started in 93 games, compiled 3,604 minutes (25.6 mpg.), 1,140 points (8.1 ppg.), 435 rebounds (3.1 rpg.) and 408  assists (2.9 apg.). Shot 43.4% from the field, 41.9% from 3-point and 80.5% from the foul line.

  • Finished as Purdue’s all-time leader in games played (141) and 3-pointers made (250).

  • Finished 2017-18 ranked sixth in the NCAA in 3-point field goal percentage at 46.6%.

  • As a senior (2017-18), played in 37 games, started in 36 games, averaged 31.4 minutes, 12.0 points, 4.1 rebounds and 4.0 assists a game. Shot 47.2% from the field, 46.6% from 3-point and 82.5% from the foul line.

  • Named in 2016-17 and 2017-18 All-Big Ten honorable mention and 2016-17, and 2017-18 All-Big Ten Defensive Team.

  • As a junior (2016-17), played and started in 35 games, averaged 31.7 minutes, 9.7 points, 3.9 rebounds and 3.8 assists a game. Shot 47.0% from the field, 45.3% from 3-point and 82.1% from the foul line.

  • As a sophomore (2015-16), played in 35 games, started in five games, averaged 19.0 minutes, 5.5 points, 2.2 rebounds and 2.3

  • assists a game. Shot 40.8% from the field, 38.6% from 3-point and 86.4% from the foul line.

  • As a freshman (2014-15), played in 34 games, started in 17 games, averaged 19.6 minutes, 4.8 points, 2.0 rebounds and 2.4 assists a game. Shot 32.7% from the field, 32.2% from 3-point and 71.0% from the foul line.

  • Was a part of the Purdue team chosen to represent the United States in the 2017 World University Games in Taipei, Taiwan. Aided Purdue to a silver medal finish.

PERSONAL NOTES:

  • Son of Daniel and Tracy Mathias. Has two older brothers, Bo and Dustin.

  • Married Gabby Gary, daughter of Mercer head coach Greg Gary.

  • Attended Elida High School (Ohio) and set school scoring record with 1,902 points. As a senior, averaged 28 points, eight rebounds and six assists per game en route to Ohio Division II Player of the Year and first-team All-State accolades. As a junior, averaged 25.3 points, 9.5 rebounds and 6.4 assists while shooting 62 percent from the field and making 63-of-169 3-point attempts.
