USA Basketball

  • Gold Medal: 2015 FIBA U19 World Championship and 2014 FIBA U17 World Championship.
  • Member of the 2015 USA Basketball U19 National Team that captured the gold medal with a perfect 7-0 record at the 2015 FIBA U19 World Championship in Heraklion, Greece; averaged 6.1 points and 4.4 rebounds a game. 

  • Scored two points and pulled down three rebounds for the 2015 USA Junior National Select Team, which fell to the World Select Team 103-101 in the 18th annual Nike Hoop Summit on April 11 in Portland, Oregon. 
  • Member of the 2014 USA U17 World Championship Team that posted a 7-0 record and captured the FIBA U17 World Championship for Men gold medal in Dubai, United Arab Emirates; played in all seven games, averaged 8.0 ppg., 5.7 rpg. and 1.8 spg. while shooting 69.9 percent from the field and 77.4 percent from the foul line. 
  • Named to the 2014 USA Junior National Team on July 15, 2014.

College Notes

  • Signed a National Letter of Intent with Purdue University.

 


High School Honors 

  • 2015 McDonald’s All-American, played for the East Team on April 1 in Chicago; Recorded two points, five rebounds, two blocked shots and one steal in 15 minutes.
  • Played for the East Team in the 2015 Jordan Brand Classic on April 17 in Brooklyn, New York; Recorded four points, four rebounds, two steals, one assist, one blocked shot in 20 minutes of action.
  • 2015 Parade All-America team. 
  • 2015 Gatorade Indiana State Player of the Year.
  • 2014 Associated Press All-State third team.
  • 2014 Indiana Basketball Coaches Association Underclass All-State first team.
  • 2014 Fort Wayne News-Sentinel All-Area Team, the lone underclassman on the team.

High School Notes

  • As a senior at Homestead High School (Ind.) in 2014-15, averaged 22.1 ppg. and 14.6 rpg. to help his team to a 32-2 record and a 4A state-title overtime victory; shot 64.0 percent from the field.
  • As a junior in 2013-14, helped his team to an 18-8 record.
  • As sophomore in 2012-13, averaged 25.2 ppg., 13.5 rpg., 3.1 apg. and 2.3 bpg. to help his team to the 2014 Indiana Class 4A state semifinals.

Personal

  • Born in Indianapolis, Indiana.
  • Son of Tanya Jackson and the late Carl Swanigan.
  • Roosevelt Barnes, his guardian since the start of eighth grade, played for the Detroit Lions.
  • Reclassified to graduate a year early, with the class of 2015.
  • Goes by the nickname Biggie.
  • Was 350 pounds in the eighth grade, and was pegged as having a future only as a football player. However, he changed his eating habits -- no fast food, no breads, fresh fruits and vegetables, lean meats -- and slimmed down over the past three years.
  • Has volunteered as a youth basketball coach.
  • Maintains a 3.10 grade point average.
