The USA Basketball education available to coaches means youth league is able to offer high-quality coaching to players of all levels.

Defense was key for the U.S. women as they won a second straight Youth Olympic Games gold medal on Wednesday in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Every player who earns an invitation to a USA Basketball training camp prior to the selection of national teams has made sacrifices in their personal lives to get there. Aliyah Boston has sacrificed and then some.

USA Basketball Notes:

  • Gold Medal: 2013 FIBA U19 World Championship.
  • Member of the 2013 USA Basketball U19 World Championship Team that posted a perfect 9-0 record and captured the gold medal at the 2013 FIBA U19 World Championship in Lithuania.
  • Aided the USA U19 squad to a 3-0 exhibition record against U19 teams from Australia, Canada and Spain in the Canary Islands.
  • Participated in the 2012 USA U17 World Championship Team  trials.
  • Participated in the 2011 USA U16 National Team trials.

College Notes:

  • Signed a National Letter of Intent to attend and play for Northwestern University in the fall.

High School Notes:

  • Attended Hopkins High School (Minn.), where she helped lead her team to three Minnesota Class 4A state championships.
  • Averaged 18.6 ppg., 8.9 rpg. and 3.0 spg. as a senior in 2012-13 as Hopkins went 30-1 and earned its third-straight state title as well as the Lake Conference and sectional champioships.
  • As a junior in 2011-12, averaged 15.8 ppg., 9.7 rpg., 1.5 apg., 1.7 bpg. and 3.3 spg. to help her team to a 30-2 record and a Class 2A state championship.
  • As a sophomore in 2010-11, helped her team to a 4A state title.
  • Posted career-highs of 32 points to go with 18 rebounds versus Cooper High School (3/2/13).
  • Despite being sick, scored 24 points and hauled in 21 rebounds against Minnetonka High School (1/22/13).
  • Played AAU for the Metro Stars.

High School Honors:

  • USA Today All-USA third team (2013).
  • WBCA High School All-American (2013), posted 12 points, three rebounds, one blocked shot, one steal and one assist en route to earning Purple Team MVP honors at the WBCA High School All-America Game.
  • McDonald’s High School All-American (2013), had two points, six rebounds, two assists and two blocked shots in the McDonald’s High School All-America Game.
  • Associated Press All-State first team (2013).
  • One of five finalists for Minnesota Miss Basketball (2013).
  • Minneapolis Star Tribune All-Metro Player of the Year (2013).
  • Minnesota Class 4A All-Tournament Team (2011, 2012, 2013).
  • All-Lake Conference (2011, 2012, 2013).
  • Minneapolis Star Tribune All-Metro first team (2012, 2013).
  • Associated Press All-State first team (2012, 2013) and honorable mention (2011).
  • Minnesota Girls Basketball Coaches Association All-State (2012, 2013).
