  • Gold medal: 2011 FIBA Americas U16 Championship.
  • Member of the 2015 USA Basketball Women’s Pan American Games team that captured the silver medal with a 4-1 record at 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto, Canada.
  • Also participated in the 2013 USA U19 World Championship Team Trials, 2012 USA U17 World Championship Team Trials and the 2012 USA U18 National Team Trials.
  • Member of the 2011 USA U16 National Team that claimed the gold medal with a 5-0 record at the FIBA Americas U16 Championship in Merida, Mexico.

College Highlights:

  • 2015 All-Atlantic Coast Conference first team.
  • 2015 North Carolina Overall Champion Award forleading team in most categories; best field-goal percentage (.483), most offensive rebounds (143), most screens (167), most defensive rebounds (193) and deflections (208).
  • 2014 Full Court Freshman All-America honorable mention.
  • ACC Rookie of the Week on Nov. 25, 2013.

College Notes:

  • As a sophomore in 2014-15, helped North Carolina to a 26-9 record and the NCAA Tournament Sweet 16.
  • As a freshman in 2013-14, appeared in all 37 games and made 34 starts; averaged 10.7 ppg., a team-leading 8.2 rpg. and 2.4 bpg.
  • Ranked second in the ACC and 26th nationally in blocks; also ranked fifth in ACC rebounding and ninth in ACC oin field goal percentage (.523). 
  • Her 90 blocks was the fifth most in a single season at UNC, while her 304 rebounds was the ninth most in school history; both were freshman school records.
  • Shot 10-for-10 to post a 20-point, 13-rebound and five-block performance vs. Coastal Carolina on Nov. 21
  • Recorded 12 double-doubles on the year, the fifth most in the ACC.
  • Had 21 double-figure scoring games, 14 double-digit rebounding totals; led the team in rebounding 19 times.
  • Had 13 points and nine boards in a win over No. 1 seed South Carolina in the NCAA Tournament on March 30.

  • Born Tafadzwa Mavunga on Feb. 24, 1995, in Harare, Zimbabwe.
  • Daughter of Jean and Phillip Mavunga; has two brothers, Jordache and Julian.
  • Brother, Julian Mavunga, played basketball at Miami of Ohio.
  • Played at Brownsburg High School. where se was a member of the honor roll and was her school’s Executive Board Vice President in 2010-11.
  • Holds Brownsburg records for single game (44) and career scoring (1,739), along with records for single-game (11), single-season and career blocked shots.
  • 2013 WBCA and McDonald’s All-American and 2013 Indiana Miss Basketball selection.
  • 2012 and 2013 Gatorade Indiana Player of the Year and two-time Indiana Basketball Coaches Association All-State selection.
  • Averaged 23.2 ppg., 12.7 rpg. and 3.8 bpg. as a high school senior in 2012-13 and led Brownsburg to its first section title in 12 years.
  • Averaged 21.6 ppg., 12.4 rpg. and 5.4 bpg. as a high school junior in 2011-12.
  • As a sophomore in 2010-11, started in 23 of 25 games and averaged 18.5 ppg., 10.1 rpg., 2.0 spg. and 4.3 bpg. to help her team to a 20-5 record.
  • As a freshman in 2009-10, started in all 24 games and averaged 11.3 ppg., 7.0 rpg., 6.0 apg., 1.6 spg. and 2.7 bpg. to help her team to a 18-6 record.
  • Also competed in track and field in 2010-11, was No. 1 in shot put.
