USA Basketball Notes:

  • Gold medals: 2015 World University Games, 2012 FIBA 3x3 U18 World Championship, 2012 FIBA U17 World Championship and 2011 FIBA Americas U16 Championship.
  • Member of the 2015 USA Basketball Women’s World University Games team that captured the gold medal with a perfect 6-0 record at 2015 World University Games in Gwangju, South Korea.
  • Member of the 2012 USA 3x3 U18 World Championship Team that captured the FIBA U18 3x3 World Championship gold medal with a 7-1 record in Alcobendas, Spain. 
  • Member of the 2012 USA U17 World Championship Team that captured the gold medal with an 8-0 record in Amsterdam, the Netherlands; helped the USA a 4-0 record in exhibition play. 
  • Member of the 2011 USA U16 National Team that claimed the gold medal with a 5-0 record at the FIBA Americas U16 Championship in Merida, Mexico.

College Notes:

  • As a sophomore in 2014-15, played in all 35 games and made 17 starts; second on the team in rebounds (5.3) and blocks (47); also averaged 5.5 points in 16.8 mpg.
  • Tallied a game-high 11 rebounds against Oklahoma, her third career game in double figures.
  • Had 10 points on 5-of-8 from the floor in the NCAA Tournament against CSUN.
  • Scored 10 on 5-of-9 shooting and grabbed a team-high eight rebounds to open the Pac-12 Tournament against UCLA.
  • Tied a career high with four blocks against Arizona State on Jan. 19.
  • Notched the first double-double of her career with 13 points and a career-high 16 rebounds in a win over Arizona on Jan. 16.
  • Grabbed a career-high 12 rebounds to go along with eight points on 4-of-4 shooting in the win over UCSB on Dec. 28.
  • Led Stanford in scoring for the first time in her career with 13 points against Prairie View A&M on Nov. 30.
  • As a freshman in 2013-14, started twice over 36 games and averaged 3.3 ppg. and 3.2 rpg. over 10.5 mpg.; second on the team with 21 blocks.
  • Recorded season highs of 12 points and six field goals and matched season high with eight rebounds against UCLA.
  • Scored four points with five rebounds in national semifinal loss to Connecticut.

  • Born on Aug. 21, 1995, in Bakersfield, California.
  • Daughter of Greg and Sonya McCall; has two siblings, DeWanna Bonner and Justin McCall.
  • Father is the women’s basketball head coach at CSU Bakersfield.
  • Mother competed in track and field at Norther Arizona.
  • Sister DeWanna currently plays for the Phoenix Mercury in the WNBA and starred collegiately at Auburn.
  • 2013 graduate of Ridgeview High School in Bakersfield, where she was a four-year letterwinner in basketball and captained the team for three seasons (2011-13).
  • Overall captured three Central Section titles at Ridegview (2010, 2011, 2013).
  • Set RHS career records of 2,655 points (second all-time in Central Section record book), 1,986 rebounds (third all-time in state history) and 983 blocked shots (state record).
  • 2013 WBCA and  McDonald’s All-American and Gatorade State Player of the Year.
  • Cal-Hi Sports CIF Central Section Division II Player of the Year and four-time All-Area MVP (2010-13).
  • Helped lead Ridgeview to CIF Central Section Division II title and to CIF Division II title game in 2013.

Arike Ogunbowale has won five gold medals with USA Basketball (most recently at this past summer’s 2014 FIBA U17 World Championship and Youth Olympic Games).
