    • Participated in the USA National Team training camp in Chicago over the 2020 NBA All-Star Weekend.

    • Member of the 2019 USA AmeriCup Team that finished with a 6-0 record and the gold medal at the FIBA AmeriCup in San Juan, Puerto Rico; averaged 8.0 ppg. and 4.5 rpg.
    • Participated in the 2017 USA National Team training camp Sept. 30-Oct. 2 in Santa Barbara, California, and was one of just five collegiate athletes on the training camp roster.

  • Named to the 2015 USA U19 World Championship Team on May 17, 2015, but withdrew due to personal reasons.
  • Member of the gold-medal winning 2014 USA Youth Olympic Games Team (3x3 competition) that finished with a 13-0 record in Nanjing, China; missed six games due to an ankle injury.
  • Member of the 2014 USA U17 World Cup Team that captured the FIBA U17 World Championship with a perfect 7-0 record in Pilsen, Czech Republic.
  • Member of the 2013 USA 3x3 U18 World Cup Team that won a gold medal at the 2013 FIBA 3x3 U18 Championship with an 8-1 record; earned the right to represent the USA at the 3x3 U18 World Cup by winning the 2013 USA Basketball 3x3 U18 National Championship; prior to the 3x3 U18 Worlds, earned gold at the FIBA Americas 3x3 U18 Championship with a 5-0 record.
  • Member of the 2013 USA U16 National Team that won gold with a perfect 5-0 record at the FIBA Americas U16 Championship in Cancun, Mexico.

College Years

  • As a senior in 2018-19, Connecticut finished with a 35-3 record, including 16-0 in conference play, captured the American Athletic Conference Tournament title and advanced to the NCAA Final Four.
  • As a junior in 2017-18, aided UConn to a 36-1 slate, the AAC regular season and tournament titles and to the NCAA Final Four.
  • In her first two seasons at Connecticut and helped the Huskies to an overall record of 74-1 (.987), the 2016 NCAA Tournament title, the 2017 NCAA Final Four and two American Athletic Conference regular season championships and a pair of AAC Tournament crowns.

Personal

  • Hails from Huntington Beach, California.
  • Daughter of Karen and Jon Samuelson; has two older sisters, Bonnie and Karlie.
  • Father played professional basketball in Europe; mother was named to the All-England Netball Team; and both sisters played basketball at Stanford University.
  • Both sisters also attended USA Basketball trials, but Katie Lou was the first to earn a spot on a USA team. Bonnie was at the 2010 U17/Youth Olympic Games trials and the 2009 U16 trials. Karlie was at the 2011 U16 and 2012 U17 trials.
  • Graduated from Mater Dei High School (Calif.) and attended Edison High School (Calif.) as a freshman in 2011-12.
  • Gatorade, USA Today, WBCA, Naismith and Morgan Wootten National Player of the Year and McDonald’s All-American (2015).
  • Llisted on her high school’s honor roll every year, earned the Presidential Academic Excellence award for earning straight A’s all through 8th grade, and was an early application and entrant with Stanford University.
  • Started playing basketball when she was 5.
  • Has a golden retriever named Sami Hoops Samuelson.
  • Wears No. 33 because that’s what Larry Bird wore.
  • Away from the court, she enjoys playing racquetball.
  • Most people don’t know that she can juggle three basketballs.
  • Superstitious about sitting in the same seat on a bus or in a van.
  • Has traveled outside the United States to China, Czech Republic, France, Indonesia, Mexico and South Korea.
