Mike Boynton Jr. (Oklahoma State University) is serving as an assistant coach for the 2022 USA Basketball Men’s U18 National Team, which is set to compete in the 2022 FIBA Americas U18 Men’s Championship this summer.

His previous experience with USA Basketball dates to his services as a court coach for U19 National Team training camp in Fort Worth, Texas.

At OSU, Boynton has complied 87 wins through five seasons. In the 2021-22 seasons, Boynton guided the program to a fifth-place finish in the Big 12 for the second-straight season. It was the first time the program finished in the top five in the Big 12 in back-to-back seasons since 2005.

In 2021, Oklahoma State advanced to the finals of the Big 12 Championship, earning a No. 4 seed in the NCAA Tournament. The program won its first-round game in the NCAA Tournament, the first since 2009. Oklahoma State ended the year ranked No. 11 by the Associated Press.

Boynton spent the previous three seasons at Stephen F. Austin, where he helped the program rack up a total of 89 wins, which are tied for the most by any coaching staff in their first three campaigns.

Boynton helped SFA win 28 games in the 2015-16 season, capping off the year with a first-round NCAA Tournament upset of No. 2-ranked Virginia. His program's performance in the 2015-16 season was the end of a run that saw his team go 53-1 in league play and win three-straight Southland Conference titles.

Before his stint at SFA, Boynton spent four years as an assistant coach at South Carolina. While on staff in Columbia, Boynton helped lead the Gamecocks to three wins over national top-5 opponents, including an upset of then-No. 1 Kentucky in 2009-10 and wins over then-No. 2 Michigan State and then-No. 2 Ohio State in 2010-11.

Boynton was an associate head coach at Wofford in 2008-09  and worked as an assistant at Coastal Carolina for two seasons, which included a 20-win season in 2005-06.

Boynton played basketball for South Carolina (2001-04), appearing in 125 career games, which ranks fourth all-time. He also finished his career top   10in 3-pointers made with 129. He led the Gamecocks to the NCAA Tournament as a senior, averaging 9.9 points.
