Steve Turner served in his fourth USA Basketball coaching assignment as a 2021 USA U16 national team assistant coach. Turner helped lead the team to a 6-0 record and gold medal at the 2021 FIBA Americas U16 Men's Championship in Xalapa, Mexico.

Turner also helped conduct a minicamp for U16 hopefuls in May of 2021 at the USA Men's Junior National Team minicamp.

He has served as a court coach at the 2019 USA Basketball Junior National Team October minicamp, the 2019 USA U16 National Team training camp and the 2019 JNT July minicamp.

Gonzaga did not compete in 2020-21, but in 2019-20 Turner led his team to a 25-10 record and a DCSAA Class AA state championship.

In 2018-19, the Eagles finished 28-9 and won a Washington Catholic Athletic Conference championship for the fourth time under Turner.

Turner’s success has led him to numerous coach of the year titles, including WCAC Coach of the Year in 2008, 2009, 2011, 2013 and 2017; Capital Classic DMV Coach of the Year in 2017; National Gatorade Coach of the Year in 2016; USA Today ALL-USA District of Columbia Coach of the Year in 2017 and 2019; Washington Post ALL-MET Coach of the Year in 2019; Washington Post District of Columbia Coach of the Year in 2008; and DC Sports Fan Coach of the Year in 2008.
