In 240 minutes of play, the United States men trailed their opponents all of 3:00, every second of which came early in the first quarter of the gold medal game against Canada.

Overall the USA led in most of the major team statistical categories in the eight-team field, including points averaged (114.5 ppg.), margin of victory (+49.3 ppg.), scoring defense (65.2 ppg.), field goal percentage (.533), free throw percentage (.752), defensive field goal percentage (.340), rebounding defense (35.3 rpg. allowed), rebounding margin (+18.0 rpg.), blocked shots (6.83 bpg.), assists (29.0 apg.), steals (12.0 spg.), turnover margin (+9.17) and assist-to-turnover ratio (2.23.).

Led by Hall of Famer and University of Kansas head coach Bill Self, the USA opened with a dominating 105-73 victory over Dominican Republic on June 10. All 12 players scored, including six in double digits, and Cole Anthony led the offensive effort with 18 points.

The USA opened with a 45-0 run and never looked back en route to a 118-26 victory over Panama on June 11. Again all 12 team members scored, led by Armando Bacot’s 17 points.

In the USA’s third and final preliminary game, eventual tournament MVP Quentin Grimes paced the squad with 20 points in a 115-71 win over Puerto Rico on June 12.

Advancing to the quarterfinals against Ecuador, which was 0-3 after the opening round, the U.S. received a 20-point and 11-rebound double-double from Trayce Jackson-Davis in a 132-55 finish on June 14.

Argentina was the only team to keep it close to the USA, but it could not overcome the USA’s depth in the semifinals, and the U.S. advanced to the gold medal game with a 104-92 win on June 15. Leading the way was Grimes with 26 points and Coby White with 25.

In front of a packed house cheering loudly for the home team, the USA withstood an early run from Canada and dominated the game's final 36 minutes to claim a 113-74 victory and the gold medal behind 18 points from Anthony on June 16.

In addition to Grimes, the 2018 FIBA U18 Americas All-Tournament Team included U.S. teammates Anthony and White, along with Argentina’s Francisco Caffaro and Canada’s Andrew Nembhard.

Argentina earned bronze with an 87-79 win over Puerto Rico.
