The 2010 USA Basketball Women's U18 National Team topped its five opponents by an average of 55.8 ppg. as it easily cruised to an undefeated, 5-0 record and the 2010 FIBA Americas U18 Championship gold medal June 23-27 at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo.

Along with the USA, silver finisher Brazil, bronze medalist Canada and fourth-place Chile all earned a berth into the 2011 FIBA U19 World Championships, and because Chile was automatically qualified as the host country, fifth-place Argentina also earned a spot in the 2011 tournament.

The U.S. attack was led by Chiney Ogwumike, who averaged team-highs of 13.2 ppg. and 7.4 rpg., and Bria Hartley, who scored 10.6 ppg. and dished out a 4.0 apg.

Ogwumike now lists fifth in the U.S. U18 record book for points averaged, Hartley lists fifth for assists averaged and Theresa Plaisance blocked 1.8 shots per game to list fifth in that category as well. As a team, the USA shot a single-game, all-time best 88.2 percent (15-17 FTs) from the free throw line against Brazil on June 24.

Among all 2010 participants, Malina Howard, the second-youngest player on the team, led the tournament in field goal percentage (.625), followed by Ogwumike (.609).

Ranking No. 1 in 11 of 19 team statistical categories, the USA was a tournament best 48.6 percent from the field while holding its opponents to just 22.1 percent shooting.

In its first contest on June 23, nine players scored at least six points to lead the USA to a 91-32 win over Argentina. Ogwumike talled 15 points and 12 rebounds in 15 minutes, followed by Stefanie Dolson with 12 points on 5-of-6 shooting and Bria Hartley and Kayla McBride with 10 points apiece.

The following evening, the USA launched a 13-2 run within the first three minutes of play before it sailed to a 89-46 win over Brazil. With 15 points, Ogwumike led four U.S. players in double figures, including Hartley (14), Alexis Jones (12) and Kayla McBride (10).

Against Puerto Rico on June 25, the USA received double-figure point production from eight players as the Americans rolled past Puerto Rico 108-44. Topped by Diamond DeShield's 14 points, seven other U.S. players scored in double figures, including Reshanda Gray (12), Cassie Harberts (10), Hartley (10), Jones (10 points and a game-high 12 rebounds), Ally Malott (11), Ogwumike (10) and Cassie Peoples (10).

Another quick start and strong finish pushed the USA within one win of its ultimate goal as eight U.S. players scored at least eight points on June 26 to propel the red, white and blue to a 98-28 win over Chile in the medal semfinals. Ogwumike again led the USA with 17 points against Chile, McBride added 10 points and Theresa Plaisance tallied 11.

The USA lived up to expectations with an 81-38 victory over Brazil on June 27 and finished with a perfect, 5-0 mark in the tournament to claim the USA's fourth straight U18 gold medal. Howard led the USA against Brazil with 12 points, Hartley scored 11, as did Plaisance. Diamond DeShields, the youngest player on the team, scored 10, and Jones and Ogwumike each had nine points.
