Myles Turner (Trinity H.S./Bedford, Texas), a 6-11 center from the high school class of 2014, has been added to the roster for the 2013 USA Basketball Men’s Developmental National Team October Mini-Camp, while Edrice Adebayo (Northside H.S./Gatesville, N.C.) will not attend. The camp will take place on Oct. 5-6 at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo.

The fifth edition of the USA Men’s Developmental National Team October Mini-Camp will feature 34 members of the 2013-14 USA Basketball Men’s Developmental National Team (born on or after Jan. 1, 1997), who are preparing for the 2014 FIBA U17 World Championship, as well as 14 players from the high school class of 2014, who are training in preparation for the 2014 USA U18 National Team and the 2014 USA Nike Hoop Summit Team.

Led by Don Showalter, who has won five straight gold medals as head coach of the USA Basketball Developmental National Team since 2009, training camp will run from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. and 4:15-7 p.m. (times listed are Mountain Daylight) on Saturday, Oct. 5., and at 9:30 a.m.-12 p.m. and 4:30-7 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 6.

Mike Jones (DeMatha Catholic H.S., Md.) and Cory Alexander (Boo Williams AAU, Va.) will assist Showalter as court coaches. Jones was head coach for the 2013 USA Nike Hoop Summit Team, and an assistant coach at the 2012 Nike Hoop Summit. He also was an assistant for the 2011-12 DNT, winning two gold medals, and he assisted the East Team to a bronze medal at the 2004 USA Men’s Youth Development Festival. Alexander, a former NBA player and University of Virginia star, was an assistant for the USA in the 2013 Nike Hoop Summit, and he has played on three USA Basketball teams. He earned gold with the USA at the 1993 FIBA U21 World Championship, silver at the 1992 FIBA Americas U20 Championship and bronze with the South Team at the 1991 U.S. Olympic Festival.

Since the inception of the FIBA Americas U16 Championship in 2009 and the FIBA U17 World Championship in 2010, members of the USA Basketball Men’s Developmental National Team program have won five consecutive gold medals and compiled a perfect 31-0 record at U16 and U17 championships.

Among the 2013-14 DNT, all 12 players that won gold at the 2013 FIBA Americas U16 Championship return, including tournament MVP Newman; as well as Bryant, Ferguson, Giddens, Giles, Justin Jackson, King, Rabb, Ramsey, Stone, Tatum and Woods.

Seventeen DNT members have prior USA Basketball training camp experience, including: Battle, Coffey, Crawford, Davis, Ellenson, Goodin, Govan, Heron, D. Jones, Langford, Leaf, Monk, Pritchard, Simmons, Spencer, Thornton and Williams.

Among the 14 older players, Okafor is the most experienced. This past summer, he helped the USA to a gold medal and was named to the all-tournament team at the 2013 FIBA U19 World Championship, and he was MVP of the 2012 FIBA U17 World Championship.

Berry, Johnson and Tyus Jones played alongside Okafor on the 2012 USA U17 World Championship Team.

Collecting gold at the 2011 FIBA Americas U16 Championship were Justin Jackson, Tyus Jones, Johnson, Okafor and Pinson. Additionally, Blackmon participated in four USA training camps as a member of the 2011-12 DNT.

Overall, 39 of the 48 players attending camp are ranked by ESPN, including the No. 1 player from the class of 2014 (Okafor), the class of 2015 (Rabb) and the class of 2016 (Giles). 
While all 14 players from the class of 2014 list on the 2014 ESPN 100, among the top 10 are Okafor (No. 1), Turner (No. 2), Tyus Jones (No. 3), McCullough (No. 7), Justin Jackson (No. 8) and Looney (No. 9). Breaking into the top 10 for the class of 2015 ESPN 60 are Rabb (No. 1), Newman (No. 2) and Stone (No. 4), while 10 other players made the list. In the class of 2016 ESPN 25, 12 of the top 17 players are at camp, including top-ranked Giles (No. 1), Josh Jackson (No. 3), King (No. 4), Tatum (No. 5), Ferguson (No. 6) and Battle (No. 7).

The USA Basketball Men’s Developmental National Team Committee issued invitations to attend camp. In addition to Ford, the committee includes National Federation of High Schools (NFHS) appointees John Olive (Torrey Pines H.S., Calif.) and Herman Harried (Lake Clifton Campus H.S., Md.); Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) representatives Rich Gray (St. Louis Eagles AAU, Mo.) and Boo Williams (Boo Williams AAU, Va.); and athlete representatives Chauncey Billups, a 2010 FIBA World Championship gold medalist and a member of three USA Basketball teams, and Gerry McNamara, who played on the 2005 USA World University Games Team.

The USA qualified for the 2014 FIBA U17 World Championship by virtue of its top-four finish in the 2013 FIBA Americas U16 Championship. The 2014 Worlds will feature 16 national teams that qualified through their FIBA zone tournaments from Aug. 7-17 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

Players eligible for this competition must have been born on or after Jan. 1, 1997, and the U.S. roster will be composed of members of the 2013-14 DNT.
