Andre Drummond celebrates winning Gold!

USA Basketball Social Roundup

  • Date:
    Oct 15, 2014

Each week on USAB.com, we will check in with our social channels to see what’s happening around the USA Basketball universe. This week’s roundup:

USA Men’s National Team member Andre Drummond (Detroit Pistons) was one of many players who reacted to the news over the weekend that NBA MVP Kevin Durant would miss at least the first month of the NBA season with a fractured right foot.

---
Nneka Ogwumike, fresh off winning gold with the USA Women’s National Team at the 2014 FIBA World Championship for Women, is on her way to Russia to play for Dynamo Kursk of the EuroLeague.

---

This is the last we’ll be hearing from Breanna Stewart on social media for a while. The two-time defending national champion UConn Huskies begin practice soon, and head coach Geno Auriemma has a team policy about tweeting during the season. Having been the youngest member of the USA Basketball Women’s World Championship Team that just won gold in Turkey earlier this month, Stewart should be ready to go in attempting an NCAA three-peat.

---

While Elena Delle Donne has won gold with USA Basketball in the past, she missed a shot at making the 2014 USA World Championship Team due to injury (back) following the 2014 WNBA season. Still, that won’t stop her from hosting the De11e Donne Skills Academy, a series of youth basketball clinics at various locations around the country. The first is coming up in a few days in California. For more details, check out Delle Donne’s official site.

---

The Sacramento Kings are in China – they play the second of two preseason games against the Brooklyn Nets tonight – and USA Men’s National Team member DeMarcus Cousins has been enjoying the trip.

---

And before we get too far removed from the 2014 FIBA World Cup gold medal that the USA Men’s National Team brought home last month, here are a few Instagram and Vine posts:
