World Cup Experience Contributed To Curry's Hot Start This Season

  • Date:
    Dec 23, 2014

Check out some of the people and organizations USA Basketball is following with this week’s USA Basketball Social Media Roundup:

Why is Stephen Curry playing so well this season for the Golden State Warriors? In this interview with NBA TV’s Ahmad Rashad, Curry credits his time with USA Basketball this summer. Curry was able to stay sharp and work on his game while helping the U.S. Men’s National Team capture gold at the 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup. Curry tackles that and other subjects here.

John Wall of the Washington Wizards, who took part in the 2014 U.S. Men’s National Team training camp in July, gets in the Christmas spirit as he helps some kids in the D.C. area stock up on toys.

---

Tamika Catchings, who has won nine gold medals including three Olympic golds with USA Basketball, is also in the holiday spirit. Here she provides a link to her blog, to tell us all about it.

---

The WNBA’s San Antonio Stars have been keeping tabs on one of their own and offered this shout-out to Kayla McBride, who has been playing outstanding basketball for Hungary’s UE Sopron in the EuroCup. McBride, entering her second season in the WNBA, was a member of the 2014 USA Basketball Women’s World Championship team training camp roster.

While Kentucky head coach John Calipari is currently presiding over the No. 1-ranked team in college basketball, that doesn’t keep him from taking time to support a few former Kentucky players. And some of the former Wildcats he’s pushing here for the NBA All-Star Game also happen to be members of USA Basketball.

For Cory Alexander, getting in the holiday spirit meant traveling to sunny Hawaii, where he broadcast the Hawaiian Airlines Diamond Head Classic on ESPNU. Alexander, a former NBA player who has both played and coached for USA Basketball, recently found time in between his TV gigs to answer questions from youth players and coaches.
