EVENT DESCRPITION: The 2015 FIBA Americas U16 Championship serves as the qualifying tournament for the 2016 FIBA U17 World Championship. The FIBA Americas U16 Championship features eight U16 national teams from North, South and Central America and the Caribbean.
ELIGIBILITY: Players eligible for this team must be U.S. citizens born on or after January 1, 1999.
2015 QUALIFIED TEAMS (8): Including host Mexico, which earned the 2014 Centrobsaket Championship gold medal, also qualified are Canada and the United States as the North American entries; while Honduras (silver medalist), and Cuba (bronze medalist) qualified through the 2014 Centrobasket U15 Championship; while Brazil (gold medalist), Venezuela (silver medalist) and Argentina (bronze medalist) qualified through the 2014 South American U15 Championship.

EVENT HISTORY: Since FIBA Americas initiated the U16 Championship in 2009, USA teams have finished 5-0 and won gold in 2009, 2011, and 2013.
