Celebrating Paul George's Return and a Pair Of National Champions

  • Date:
    Apr 8, 2015

Check out some of the people and organizations USA Basketball is following with this week’s USA Basketball Social Media Roundup:

Paul George returned to action Sunday night – sooner than anyone thought following the injury he suffered last summer during the USA Basketball Showcase. Many of his teammates from the Men’s National Team, including
Klay Thompson and Andre Drummond, were among the countless tweeters who expressed their happiness to see him back. ---

One night after George’s comeback, Duke University returned to the top of the college basketball world with a win over Wisconsin in the NCAA national championship game. Former Blue Devil Kyrie Irving, who played for Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski again last summer with the 2014 World Cup Team, was among the first to offer a shout-out on Twitter. ---

The folks at the Nike Hoop Summit are busy this week preparing for Saturday’s game, but took the time to acknowledge Duke’s fabulous freshmen, who played together for USA Basketball in the 2014 Nike Hoop Summit.

---

Mike Jones, head coach of DeMatha Catholic High School in Maryland, was the head coach of the victorious USA Basketball Junior National Select Team at the 2014 Nike Hoop Summit. Duke’s Quinn Cook played for Jones at DeMatha; Duke’s Tyus Jones played for Jones in the Hoop Summit. So Monday was a proud night for Coach Jones, and he even got the chance to congratulate Cook and Tyus Jones – via FaceTime – in the midst of their celebration.

One night after he was the one trending on Twitter, Paul George joined in on the Duke praise and added an Instagram photo of himself with Krzyzewski.

Congrats Coach K!!!

Six-time gold medalist Tina Charles won two national championships with the University of Connecticut, so she was naturally feeling a little proud Tuesday night when UConn won its third consecutive NCAA title with a win over Notre Dame.
