Rudy Gay's UConn Pride, Dawn Staley's Commencement Speech and More

  • Date:
    May 13, 2015

Check out some of the people and organizations USA Basketball is following with this week’s USA Basketball Social Media Roundup:

No news here, just some cool images that were tweeted by fans of 2015 World Cup Championship Team member

Rudy Gay.

Elena Delle Donne was in Las Vegas last week for the USA Basketball Women’s National Team mini-camp – where she talked to us about her Olympic aspirations. Now she’s on her way to Chicago, where she’ll get ready for the WNBA season with the Chicago Sky.

---

To be more specific, Nancy Mulkey is on her way to Colorado Springs, where she’ll compete this weekend in the 2015 USA Basketball Women’s U19 World Championship Team Trials. Mulkey has already won two gold medals with USA Basketball, most recently at the 2014 FIBA U17 World Championship.

---

Hall of Famer Dawn Staley has been pretty busy. The University of South Carolina women’s basketball coach found the time to deliver this commencement speech to her school in between a trip last week to Las Vegas as assistant coach with the Women’s National Team and a trip to Colorado Springs this weekend as head coach of the U19 World Championship Team.

---

Duke associate head coach Jeff Capel, who served as a support coach with the 2014 USA World Cup Team, watches the NBA playoffs with an eye toward players he’s coached in college (before he went to Duke, Capel coached Griffin at Oklahoma).

---

This is a mutual relationship. Alan Stein, veteran conditioning coach and co-host of the Hardwood Hustle Podcast, has written for USAB.com in the past. And some of the waves USAB Youth is about to make might include more great content from Stein going forward.
