EVENT DESCRIPTION: The FIBA 3x3 U18 World Championship has been held on an annual basis since 2011, except the years of the Summer Youth Olympic Games (2010, 2014). In addition to the men’s and women’s 3x3 tournaments, which are expected to feature 20 teams each, included in the 2016 3x3 U18 World Championship program will be skills contests, giving athletes chances to win additional medals.  

ELIGIBILITY: In order to be eligible, athletes must participate in at least one FIBA-sanctioned 3x3 tournament prior to participating in the 2016 USA Basketball 3x3 U18 National Tournament that is scheduled to be held April 29-May 1 at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado. To receive an invitation to participate in the 2016 USA Basketball 3x3 U18 National Tournament, teams must be selected through a qualifying 3x3 tournament and approved by USA Basketball.

Athletes eligible for this team must be 18-years-old or younger (born on or after 1/1/98) and U.S. citizens.

2016 QUALIFIED TEAMS (20): In addition to host Kazakhstan, teams qualified for the 2016 FIBA 3x3 U18 World Championship for Women include: Andorra; Australia, China, Czech Republic, Egypt, France, Guatemala, Hungary, Israel, Italy, Netherlands, New Zealand, Poland, Spain, Tunisia, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, United States and Venezuela.

PRELIMINARY ROUND GROUPS: TBD (four groups of five teams each)

EVENT HISTORY: The USA women’s 3x3 U18 teams have compiled a 49-6 overall record and captured gold at the 2014 Youth Olympic Games, and the 2012 and 2013 FIBA 3x3 U18 World Championships; silver at the 2015 FIBA 3x3 U18 World Championship; and bronze medals at the 2010 Youth Olympic Games and 2011 FIBA 3x3 U18 World Championship.

The 2015 USA Men's 3x3 U18 National Team will look to win the USA's first 3x3 gold medal when it competes at the 2015 FIBA 3x3 U18 World Championship from June 4-7 in Debrecen, Hungary.
