USA head coach Dori Oldaker (Mt. Lebanon H.S., Pa.).
On the game:

I thought we played well as a team. We definitely were more patient on offense. We cut down our turnovers a little bit – not as much as I would like, but did we did cut down on our turnovers. We still did a great job on the boards. We did better in the second half that we did in the first half. I thought we gave them too many opportunities.

On the second half:
They were really out-hustling us in the first half, and I give them credit. They came out with a lot of intensity. We went on some runs in the first half and were up by six points, and there was no let-up by these kids’ faces coming out in the second half.

Is this team where you want it to be in terms of preparation ahead of the quarterfinals?
We are only as good as our next game. That was one game. That was not our ultimate goal, so you never know. We need to have a good practice tomorrow and play the game.

Janelle Bailey (Providence Day School/Matthews, N.C.)
On the game:
We had a lot of fire coming out. We knew how big this game was. It was win or be out of medal contention. Knowing that, we had a lot of fire, and I think that is why we played well. We knew Brazil was a good team, and that they were going to compete with us. I think we brought our best.

On the second half:
I think we started to wear them down, and we made some good adjustments in the second half. Going back into the locker room, you have some things you have to fix, which wasn’t much. Because although the game was close in the first half, we were doing a good job doing what we needed to do on the offensive end and playing good defense.

Destanni Henderson (Fort Myers H.S./Fort Myers, Fla.)
Did you feel like the team played well?
I do feel like we played well as a team. We had 17 assists. I think we played really well overall. We hustled on rebounds and controlled our fouls. We were trying to be more consistent, and I think we did that.

On the third quarter:
We were trying to really push the ball, and then settle and run our stuff and be controlled.

Olivia Nelson-Ododa (Winder-Barrow H.S./Winder, Ga.)
On the game:

We started off a little bit passive, but in the second half we started coming together as a team and making good passes and good plays.

On the third quarter:
We definitely were focused. I think we just really locked down on defense, and that really helped a lot.

How does it feel to move on to the quarterfinals?
It feels great. We are really excited.

Christyn Williams (Central Arkansas Christian School/Little Rock, Ark.)
On the game:
I thought we played really well. We had less turnovers today, so that was really good. That was one of our points of emphasis. I thought we did a really good job on defense today.

On the third quarter:
We came out with a lot of energy. Offensively, = the fast breaks were there, and we got the lead. We were running and gunning.

Is the team ready for the quarterfinals?
We are ready for the quarterfinals, and I am ready for the quarterfinals, too. We are all excited. We are just taking it one game at a time.
