USA Basketball Brings Youth Coach Academy To Pacific Northwest

USA Basketball will conduct one of its heralded Youth Coach Academies on Sept. 24-25 at Lake Oswego High School (2501 Country Club Road, Lake Oswego, Oregon 97034) in the Portland, Oregon, area. The USA Basketball Youth Coach Academies are designed for coaches of all levels.

USA Basketball Youth Coach Academies provide coaches valuable insight and education for teaching the game of basketball to young players. Coaches will learn the USA Basketball player model to impart a proper skill development path to those they coach. Guest speakers deliver on-court and off-court sessions, addressing coaching techniques and life skills through engaging topics relevant to coaches and administrators. 

Among the notable basketball experts presenting at the Lake Oswego USA Basketball Youth Coach Academy are: University of San Francisco Senior Associate Athletic Director Frank Allocco; University of Oregon men’s basketball head coach Dana Altman; Concordia University men’s basketball head coach Brad Barbaric; Chicago Bulls scout Dave Bollwinkel; Lake Oswego High School boys basketball head coach Marshall Cho; former NBA coach Kevin Eastman; Washington Interscholastic Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame Inductee Pat Fritterer; former Gonzaga University men’s basketball director of basketball operations Jerry Krause; University of Washington women’s basketball head coach Michael Neighbors; and University of Pittsburgh men’s basketball assistant coach Kevin Sutton.

Between now and Sept. 10, the cost is $140 for coaches who already are licensed by USA Basketball and $175 for all others. Registration after Sept. 10, will cost $160 for coaches who already are licensed by USA Basketball and $200 for all others.

All registered attendees will receive admission to all of the sessions, a catered lunch on both days, USA Basketball/Nike gift items and training for the 2016-2017 USA Basketball coach license.

After its successful debut in 2017, the USA Basketball Women in the Game initiative returned with a conference April 7-8 at the Windward School in Los Angeles. In addition to presentations from expert guest speakers, attendees of the USA Basketball Women in the Game conference also experienced breakout sessions and small group discussions between speakers and attendees.
