USA Basketball Coach Academy Set For Boston Area May 6-7
The USA Basketball Coach Academy - Presented by Nike, is set to take place on May 6-7 at Catholic Memorial School in West Roxbury, Massachusetts.
Coach academies provide valuable insight and education to coaches and administrators of the game. Academy sessions share the USA Basketball curriculum to impart a proper skill development path while teaching the game to players of all ages and ability levels. Additionally, guest speakers focus on areas of expertise to present on basketball and leadership topics applied both on and off the court. Attendees will leave the academy with the opportunity to become USA Basketball Youth Development licensed coaches.
Check-in for the Boston coach academy is from 8-9 a.m. on May 6 (all times are EDT), and the academy will be held from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. On May 9, academy sessions take place from 9 a.m.-1 p.m.
Coaches may register for $185. The cost includes live training for a USA Basketball Coach License, on and off the court presentations, Nike/USA Basketball gift items, catered meals, a USA Basketball memorabilia display and networking time. The presenters are highlighted by Don Showalter, USA Basketball coach development director and an eight-time USA Basketball Developmental Coach of the Year award winner; Carla Berube, head women’s basketball coach at Tufts University and head coach of the 2017 USA Basketball Women’s U16 National Team; Paul Biancardi, an ESPN national recruiting director and college basketball analyst; Kelly Cole, head women’s basketball coach at Northeastern University; David Hixon, head men’s basketball coach at Amherst College; Phil Martelli, head men’s basketball coach at Saint Joseph’s University; and Dr. Matthew Robinson, acting director of intercollegiate athletics at the University of Delaware.
