USA Basketball To Host Memphis Coach Academy September 9-10

The USA Basketball Memphis Coach Academy - presented by Nike, will take place on September 9-10 at Memphis University School.

USA Basketball Coach Academies provide valuable insight and education to coaches and administrators of basketball. Academy sessions impart to coaches of all levels the USA Basketball curriculum for a proper skill development path to teach the game to players of all ages and ability levels. Additionally, guest speakers deliver on and off court sessions on basketball and leadership topics.

Check-in for the Memphis coach academy is from 8:30-9 a.m. (all times CDT) on Sept. 9, followed by sessions from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. that day. On Sept. 10, the academy will run from 8:30 a.m.-12:45 p.m.

The cost of registration is $185 and includes on and off court presentations, Nike/USA Basketball gift items, catered meals, a USA Basketball memorabilia viewing, networking time and training for a USA Basketball 2017-18 coach license. USA Basketball Memphis Coach Academy presenters are highlighted by Don Showalter, USA Basketball coach development director and an eight-time USA Basketball Developmental Coach of the Year award winner; Kevin Eastman, former NBA assistant coach and director of basketball operations; Steve Forbes, head men’s basketball coach at East Tennessee State University; Grey Giovanine, head men’s basketball coach at Augustana College; Lionel Hollins, former NBA coach and player; Dan Hughes, a basketball analyst for ESPN and FOX and a former WNBA head coach and general manager; Tubby Smith, University of Memphis men’s basketball coach; Carly Thibault-DuDonis, women’s basketball assistant coach at Mississippi State University; Sharman White, gold-medal winning USA Basketball assistant coach and an assistant men’s basketball coach at Georgia State University; and Dr. Hal Wilson, assistant professor of coaching education at Georgia Southern University.
