EVENT DESCRIPTION: The fifth FIBA 3x3 World Cup, an event launched in 2012 and held in 2014 and 2016 before moving to an annual event in 2017, is expected to feature 20 men's teams and 20 women's teams in 2018. In addition to the men’s and women’s 3x3 tournaments, included in the 2018 3x3 World Cup program will be skills contests, giving athletes chances to win additional medals.
ELIGIBILITY: In order to be eligible, athletes must participate in at least one FIBA-sanctioned 3x3 tournament in 2018 prior to participating in the 2018 USA Basketball 3x3 National Tournament that is scheduled to be held April 20-22 at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado. To receive an invitation to participate in the 2018 USA Basketball 3x3 National Tournament, teams must be selected through a qualifying 3x3 tournament and approved by USA Basketball.

Athletes eligible for this team must be U.S. citizens.

2018 QUALIFIED TEAMS (20): In addition to host Philippines, and Russia, which earned its berth by virtue of claiming gold at the 2017 event, teams qualified for the 2018 FIBA 3x3 World Cup women’s tournament based on FIBA’s 3x3 world rankings as of Nov. 1, 2017, include: Andorra, Argentina, Bahrain, China, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Hungary, Iran, Italy, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Netherlands, Spain, Switzerland, Turkmenistan, USA and Venezuela.
PRELIMINARY ROUND GROUPS: TBD (four groups of five teams each)
EVENT HISTORY: The USA women’s 3x3 teams qualified for the 2012, 2014 and 2016 3x3 World Cups, but missed out on the 2017 event due to FIBA 3x3 rankings. However, in those three events the USA compiled a 23-2 record and captured gold medals in 2012 and 2014 and a bronze medal in 2016.
USA WOMEN’S 3X3 WORLD CUP TEAM PLAYERS: The 2012 USA 3x3 team featured Skylar Diggins, Bria Hartley, Chiney Ogwumike and Ann Strother; the 2014 team was comprised of Cierra Burdick, Sara Hammond, Jewell Loyd and Tiffany Mitchell; and the 2016 team listed Linnae Harper, Alexis Jennings, Natalie Romeo and Chatrice White.
