USA Basketball Coach Academies Coming to Eight U.S. Cities in 2018

  • Date:
    Feb 12, 2018

USA Basketball today announced that eight locations throughout the United States have been identified as sites for a 2018 USA Basketball Coach Academy - presented by Nike. The popular USA Basketball Coach Academies provide valuable insight and education to coaches and administrators of basketball.

USA Basketball Coach Academies in 2018 will take place: May 5-6 in Southern California; May 19-20 in Chicago; June 2-3 in Philadelphia; July 25-27 in Las Vegas; Aug. 11-12 in Washington, D.C.; Aug. 25-26 in Cleveland; Sept. 15-16 in Atlanta; and Sept. 29-30 in Houston.

Registration for all eight locations is now available online.

“The USA Basketball Coach Academy has become one of our most popular initiatives, because youth basketball coaches get the chance to learn from high school, college or professional coaches on skill-development drills and game strategy, as well as sessions on program operations, building team culture and life skills that directly relate to their needs,” said Jay Demings, USA Basketball youth division director. “It also is important for those attending a coach academy to get a chance to network with coaches and administrators who might be experiencing some of the same challenges.”

USA Basketball Coach Academy sessions impart to coaches of all levels the USA Basketball curriculum for a proper skill development path to teach basketball to children of all ages and ability levels. Guest speakers deliver on- and off-court sessions on basketball and leadership topics.

Registration for a coach academy includes on- and off-court presentations, Nike/USA Basketball gift items, catered meals, a USA Basketball memorabilia viewing, networking time and training for a USA Basketball 2017-18 coach license.

USA Basketball gold-licensed coaches are eligible for discounted registration, and offers also are available for groups of 10 or more. Additionally, at all of the sites except Las Vegas, the first 50 registrants will receive an advanced registration discount of 25 percent off.

More information, including locations, dates and links to registration, is available online.
