With the start of the 2018 Olympic Games in PyeongChang, South Korea, players were asked to provide their sport alternatives to basketball – if they weren’t world-class basketball athletes.

Tina Charles (New York Liberty)
“Bobsled.”

Elena Delle Donne (Washington Mystics)
“I would do bobsledding. ‘Cool Runnings’ was one of my favorite movies growing up. That’s when I started loving bobsledding ,and ever since then it’s been one of my favorite things to watch. I don’t know if I could fit in the sled, however. I might have to change that (laughs).

Skylar Diggins-Smith (Dallas Wings)
“Snowboard, the halfpipe. No, make it curling. It’s really cerebral and strategic.”

Stefanie Dolson (Chicago Sky)
“Curling. I love curling! I really like how strategic it is. And figure skating because it involves dancing.”

Chelsea Gray (Los Angeles Sparks)
“Probably speed skating. I also like snowboarding – slopestyle.”

Brittney Griner (Phoenix Mercury)
“Snowboarding. For sure, snowboarding. Halfpipe, yeah. I’ve always been a fan. Shaun White’s my favorite and I’m really looking forward to seeing what he’s going to do. You know, he had a bit of a spill, he had some injuries that were pretty bad, but he made it back. I can’t wait to see him.”

Jewell Loyd (Seattle Storm)
“I would have to say the halfpipe, snowboarding. I always think that’s pretty cool. When Shaun White goes, I watch him a lot. That’s one of my favorite things. If I could learn how to snowboard, I definitely would. I think the halfpipe is pretty sweet.”

Diana Taurasi (Phoenix Mercury)
“Figure skating. I grew up watching figure skaters and really enjoyed watching Kristi Yamaguchi. And maybe ice hockey.”

Sydney Wiese (Los Angeles Sparks)
“Curling. I love Jimmy Fallon and I saw the show with Becca and Matt Hamilton, the brother and sister pair. You have to work with a partner, there is a lot of communicating and a lot of strategy. And ice skating. I loved that movie ‘Blades of Glory’ and would love to try to execute that move where you almost kill your partner, but don’t.

Courtney Williams (Connecticut Sun)
“I really dig the snowboarding! I don’t know how good I’d be at that, but it looks like it would be a lot of fun!”

Halfpipe, slopestyle or snowboard cross?
“Ohhh! I like when they go all the way down and do that big trick at the end, slopestyle. That’s the most exciting one for me.”
