Speaker Lineup Announced for 2018 USA Basketball Chicago Coach Academy
The lineup of speakers for the USA Basketball Chicago Coach Academy – presented by Nike – today was announced and will feature high school coaches and administrators, NCAA coaches and gold medal winning USA Basketball coaches May 19-20 at Lane Technical College Prep High School in Chicago. Registration for the USA Basketball Chicago Coach Academy is available online.
Expected to present at the USA Basketball Chicago Coach Academy are:
- Jennie Baranczyk, women’s basketball head coach at Drake University and a USA Basketball court coach at the 2017 USA Women’s U19 World Cup Team Trials
- Rob Brost, boys basketball head coach at Bolingbrook High School (Ill.)
- Doug Bruno, women’s basketball head coach at DePaul University and a gold medal winning USA assistant coach at the 2012 and 2016 Olympics and 2010 and 2014 FIBA World Cups and as a head coach of the USA 2006 U18 and 2007 U19 national teams
- Chris Collins, men’s basketball head coach at Northwestern University, who also served as a scout and court coach for USA Basketball Men’s National Teams from 2006-2012
- Kyle Koncz, boys basketball head coach at Lake Forest Academy (Ill.)
- Nick LoGalbo, athletic director and boys basketball head coach at Lane Tech
- Anthony Pappas, director of athletics and girls basketball head coach at Waterloo West High School (Iowa)
- Brian Robinson, girls basketball head coach at Bishop McGuinness Catholic H.S. (N.C.) and a gold medal winning USA assistant coach for the USA 2013 U16 and 2014 U17 women’s national teams
- Dave Schlabaugh, men's basketball head coach at Cornell College
- Don Showalter, USA Basketball coach director, youth division and a nine-time gold medal winning coach of USA men’s U16 and U17 national teams since 2009
- Lisa Stone, women’s basketball head coach at Saint Louis University
- Pat Sullivan, motivational speaker and former collegiate coach
- Ras Vanderloo, boys basketball head coach at Sioux City East High School (Iowa)
USA Basketball coach academies provide valuable insight and education to coaches and administrators of basketball.
Academy sessions impart to coaches of all levels the USA Basketball curriculum for a proper skill development path to teach basketball to children of all ages and ability levels. Guest speakers deliver on- and off-court sessions on basketball and leadership topics.
Registration for this two-day coach academy is $185 and includes on- and off-court presentations, Nike/USA Basketball gift items, catered meals, a USA Basketball memorabilia viewing, networking time and training for a USA Basketball 2017-18 coach license. Additional speakers are expected to be added to the schedule.
USA Basketball gold-licensed coaches are eligible for discounted registration, and offers are available for groups of 10 or more. Additionally, the first 50 registrants will receive an advanced registration discount of 25 percent off.
