USA Falls To World Team 89-76 in Nike Hoop Summit

The 2018 USA Basketball Junior National Select Team could not overcome icy shooting and a 60-42 rebounding disadvantage and fell to the World Select Team 89-76 in the 2018 Nike Hoop Summit on Friday, April 13, at the Moda Center in Portland, Oregon.
R.J. Barrett (Canada) finished with a game-high 20 points to go with nine rebounds for the World Team.
A strong close to the second quarter, along with 15 first half points from Barrett, pushed the World Team out front at the break, 38-35. The USA tallied 29 points in the third quarter to take a 64-61 lead into the final 10 minutes, but went cold from the field down the stretch as the World Team pulled away.
Darius Garland (Brentwood, Tenn./*Vanderbilt) paced the U.S. with 16 points, including shooting 4-of-7 from three point range. Quentin Grimes (The Woodlands, Texas/*Kansas) added 15 points, and Bol Bol (Olathe, Kan./*Oregon) tallied 12 points, 14 rebounds and eight blocks.
The USA's advantage in the all-time series fell to 14-7.
