Speaker Lineup Announced for 2018 USA Basketball Philadelphia Coach Academy

The lineup of speakers for the USA Basketball Philadelphia Coach Academy – presented by Nike – today was announced and will feature high school and college coaches, an NBA coach, player development professionals, a college professor and gold-medal winning USA Basketball coaches June 2-3 at Archbishop Ryan High School in Philadelphia. Registration for the USA Basketball Philadelphia Coach Academy is available online.

Expected to present at the academy are:

  • Monique Boykins, girls basketball head coach at Lower Merion High School (Pa.)
  • Raphael Chillious, collegiate men’s basketball coach
  • Bob Cimmino, boys basketball head coach at Mount Vernon High School and head coach of the victorious 2010 USA Nike Hoop Summit Team
  • Steve Donahue, men’s basketball head coach at the University of Pennsylvania
  • Jamelle Elliott, collegiate coach and an advance scout for the 2016 U.S. Olympic women’s basketball team
  • Robyn Fralick, women’s basketball head coach at Ashland University
  • Billy Lange, assistant coach for the NBA Philadelphia 76ers
  • Heather Macy, women’s basketball head coach at East Carolina University
  • Joe Mantegna, boys basketball head coach at Blair Academy (N.J.)
  • Dr. Matthew Robinson, professor and director of international coaching apprenticeship at the University of Delaware
  • Don Showalter, USA Basketball coach director, youth division and a nine-time gold medal winning coach of USA men’s U16 and U17 national teams since 2009
  • Joe Stasyszyn, Unleashed Potential professional player development
  • Kevin Sutton, collegiate coach and a victorious USA Basketball head coach at the 2011 USA Nike Hoop Summit and a gold-medal winning USA assistant coach for the 2009 U16 and 2010 U17 national teams

USA Basketball coach academies provide valuable insight and education to coaches and administrators of basketball.

Academy sessions impart to coaches of all levels the USA Basketball curriculum for a proper skill development path to teach basketball to children of all ages and ability levels. Guest speakers deliver on- and off-court sessions on basketball and leadership topics.

Registration for this two-day coach academy is $185 and includes on- and off-court presentations, Nike/USA Basketball gift items, catered meals, a USA Basketball memorabilia viewing, networking time and training for a USA Basketball 2017-18 coach license. Additional speakers are expected to be added to the schedule.

USA Basketball gold-licensed coaches are eligible for discounted registration, and offers are available for groups of 10 or more. Additionally, the first 50 registrants will receive an advanced registration discount of 25 percent off.

In addition to presentations from expert guest speakers, attendees of the USA Basketball Women in the Game conference also experienced breakout sessions and small group discussions between speakers and attendees.
