    May 22, 2018

Beginning on June 25, children who are 6-17 years old in Bethpage, New York, will have the opportunity to participate for free in a USA Basketball Open Court – presented by Nike – at Bethpage High School.

USA Basketball Open Court provides children a safe and fun environment in which to play basketball. Children choose how to engage in the sport through free play, skill games, five-on-five, 3x3 and station options. Sessions are free to the community and open to children of all ability levels.

The USA Basketball Open Court at Bethpage High School will operate from June 26 through July 31, including sessions for 6-9 year olds from 6-7 p.m. (all times listed are local, EDT) and for 10-12 year olds from 7-9 p.m. on most Mondays and Wednesdays from June 25 through Aug. 1. Sessions for 13-17 year olds at from 7-9 p.m. on most Tuesdays and Thursdays between June 26 and July 31.

The complete schedule for the Bethpage High School open court is available online, and more information about USA Basketball Open Court can be found at usab.com/youth/open-court-program.

As one of USA Basketball’s youth development initiatives, open court connects children to local facilities, and the free-play setting allows children the opportunity to enjoy basketball in a safe environment while earning prizes for participation. Each open court program is supervised by USA Basketball licensed coaches.

All participants must submit a waiver signed by a parent or guardian before participating in their first session. Waivers are available at the program location

Open court participants earn points by attending sessions. Also, bonus points may be earned when a player brings a friend, has perfect attendance or makes a social post about their experience. At the end of the 12 sessions, participants can trade in points earned for custom USA Basketball Youth Development and Nike gear. The breakdown of how to earn points can be found online, as can the available prizes.
