USA Dominates China 115-37 in FIBA U17 World Cup Action
Taking control from the opening tip, the USA started it FIBA U17 World Cup opening game on a 24-1 run and stormed out to a 33-5 first quarter lead and rolled on to 115-37 victory over China Saturday night in Santa Fe, Argentina.
Seven USA players scored in double figures led by De'Vion Harmon's (Guyer H.S./Corinth, Texas) 17 points, while Isaiah Stewart (La Lumiere School, Ind./Rochester, N.Y.) finished with a double-double of 14 points and 10 rebounds. Rounding out the USA's double-digit scorer were R.J. Hampton (Little Elm H.S./Little Elm, Texas), 13 points; Vernon Carey Jr.(University School/Southwest Ranches, Fla.) and Jalen Suggs (Minnehaha Academy/Minneapolis, Minn.) added 12 points, Jalen Green (San Joaquin Memorial H.S./Fresno, Calif.) scorzed 11 points and Evan Mobley (Rancho Christian H.S./Temecula, Calif.) added 10 points.
The USA defense wreaked hovic as China shot just 27.5 percent from the field, 11.1 percent from 3-point, while forcing 43 turnovers.
