Game Story
• Box Score

USA head coach Don Showalter (USA Basketball)
On the game:
I felt during warm ups that our kids were really primed for this game tonight. We are at the point now where you can’t play poorly. I think our team kind of wanted to prove that we are ready to contend for a medal. This was really a big game for us to get to that semifinal.

The main thing is they played for each other. A great example is when Jalen Green got hot, they kept feeding him the basketball. So, there wasn’t any selfishness. I thought they really did a great job of making the extra pass. And, obviously, they played really hard on defense – causing a lot of turnovers and disrupting their offense. I’m not sure I’ve ever had a U17 team play to this level that these guys did tonight for a full game.

On Canada:
Canada is going to be ready for us. Athleticism-wise, they are very good, very similar to us. So, we have to have another performance like we did today.

Jalen Green (San Joaquin Memorial H.S./Fresno, Calif.)
On his 27 points:
The energy was good. Scott (Barnes) got us going, and then I just started hitting shots. The team started looking for me, and I just kept shooting. It was fun.

On the game:
We came out with energy – energy off the bench, energy on the court. We just wanted to win the game. We had something to prove.

Evan Mobley (Rancho Christian H.S./Temecula, Calif.)
On the game:
We played very well tonight. I feel like we had a lot of energy the entire game. We executed on offense and defense.

How was it to play out there?
It was very fun. The guys started looking for me when I got hot, and the same with Jalen Green and everybody else.

On Canada:
It is going to be a tough game. We just have to bring it like we did tonight.

Wendell Moore Jr. (Cox Mill H.S./Charlotte, N.C.)
On the game:
We just came out with a lot of energy, and it carried all the way down the bench. So, I think we had a great game tonight.

What did the team do well?
We just kept being aggressive. I know a lot of good things happen when I am aggressive and the whole team is aggressive.

On Canada:
We are excited for that game. We will prepare really hard in practice, and I think it should be a good one.
