EVENT DESCRIPTION: |
The sixth FIBA 3x3 World Cup, an event launched in 2012 and originally scheduled to be held every other year, is now an annual event and is expected to feature 20 men's teams and 20 women's teams in 2019. In addition to the men’s and women’s 3x3 tournaments, included in the 2019 3x3 World Cup program will be skills contests, giving athletes chances to win additional medals. |
ELIGIBILITY: |
In order to be eligible to be selected to the USA team, athletes must participate in the 2019 USA Basketball 3x3 National Championship that is scheduled to be held this spring (dates and site TBA). To receive an invitation to participate in the 2019 USA Basketball 3x3 National Championship, teams must qualify through a USA Basketball 3x3 National Qualifier or receive a direct invitation from USA Basketball. Athletes eligible for this team must be U.S. citizens. |
2019 QUALIFIED TEAMS (20): |
In addition to host Netherlands and reigning champion Serbia, nations qualified to compete in the 2019 FIBA 3x3 World Cup for Men are: Brazil, China, Estonia, Japan, Latvia, Lithuania, Mongolia, Poland, Qatar, Russia, Slovenia, South Korea, Turkey, Ukraine and the United States. The remaining three teams will be the three medalists at the 2019 FIBA 3x3 World Cup Qualifier, which will be held May 4-5 in San Juan, Puerto Rico. In addition to host Puerto Rico, competing for a 2019 3x3 World Cup berth in the qualifying tournament will be: Australia, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Italy, Nigeria and Romania. |

GROUP A: Netherlands, Serbia, South Korea, Turkey, USA GROUP B: Estonia, Mongolia, Russia, Ukraine and the top team out of the 2019 FIBA 3x3 World Cup Qualifier GROUP C: China, Lithuania, Qatar, Slovenia and the 3x3 World Cup qualifier silver medalist GROUP D: Brazil, Japan, Latvia, Poland and the 3x3 World Cup qualifier bronze medalist |
EVENT HISTORY: |
The USA men 3x3 teams have compiled a 16-9 overall record in four 3x3 World Cups and claimed the silver medal, its first podium finish, at the 2016 3x3 Worlds. |

The 2012 USA 3x3 team included Adetayo Adesanya, Ira Brown, Tyree Hardge and Allen DuBois Williams; the 2014 team was comprised of Mack Darrow, Demetrius Miller, Craig Moore and Jitim Young; the 2016 featured Stefhon Hannah, Myke Henry, Kavon Lytch and Alfonzo McKinnie; and in 2017 Moore returned and played alongside Zahir Carrington, Damon Huffman and Dan Mavraides. |
