USA Basketball Open Court Program Continues at Rising Sun High School

  • Date:
    Sep 10, 2019

The USA Basketball Open Court – presented by Nike – taking place at Rising Sun High School in Northeast, Maryland, will continue through Nov. 3, with eight more sessions available to the local community.

Children who are 6-17 years old have the opportunity to participate for free on Sundays through Nov. 3, including sessions for 6-9 year olds from 12-1 p.m., 10-12 year olds from 1-3 p.m. and for 13-17 year olds from 3-5 p.m.

USA Basketball Open Court provides children a safe and fun environment in which to play basketball. Children choose how to engage in the sport through free play, skill games, five-on-five, 3x3 and station options. Sessions are free to the community and open to children of all ability levels.

The complete schedule for the Rising Sun High School open court is available online, and more information about USA Basketball Open Courts can be found at usab.com/youth/open-court-program.

As one of USA Basketball’s youth development initiatives, open court connects children to local facilities, and the free-play setting allows children the opportunity to enjoy basketball in a safe environment while earning prizes for participation. Each open court program is supervised by USA Basketball licensed coaches.

All participants must submit a waiver signed by a parent or guardian before participating in their first session. Waivers are available at the program location

Open court participants earn points by attending sessions. Also, bonus points may be earned when a player brings a friend, has perfect attendance or makes a social post about their experience. At the end of the 12 sessions, participants can trade in points earned for custom USA Basketball Youth Development and Nike gear. The breakdown of how to earn points can be found online, as can the available prizes.
