EVENT DESCRIPTION: |
The Nike Hoop Summit is the only game featuring America's top, male high school seniors taking on a World Select Team comprised of the world's top players who are 19 years old or younger. |
ELIGIBILITY: |
The 2020 USA Nike Hoop Summit Team roster was selected by the USA Basketball Men's Developmental National Team Committee and will feature high school seniors who are U.S. citizens. |
EVENT HISTORY: |
The 22nd annual Nike Hoop Summit will feature the United States looking to improve its all-time 15-7 record in the event.
Held annually from 1995-2000, the Nike Hoop Summit was resumed in 2004 after a three-year hiatus and since 2008 has taken place in Portland.
The USA defeated the World Team 93-87 in 2019. |
NIKE HOOP SUMMIT PLAYERS OF NOTE: |
An incredible 229 Nike Hoop Summit alumni have been drafted by NBA teams, including 12 players in the 2019 NBA Draft. And, as of Nov. 6, 2019, a remarkable 115 Nike Hoop Summit alumni were active in the NBA, including 79 former U.S. players and 36 former World team members.
Additionally, 35 former Hoop Summit players are competing on the collegiate level in 2019-20, including 22 U.S. players and 13 World Team athletes.
Eight players have gone on to earn NBA Rookie of the Year, including Ben Simmons (2018), Karl-Anthony Towns (2016), Andrew Wiggins (2015), Kyrie Irving (2012), Tyreke Evans (2010), Derrick Rose (2009), Kevin Durant (2008) and Elton Brand (2000-shared). |
