USA Women’s National Team Documentary to Premier Oct. 3

  • Date:
    Oct 1, 2021

NBA TV will premiere A Team for the Ages: The Story of the USA Basketball Women’s National Team, presented by Nike, on Sunday, Oct. 3, at 12 p.m. EDT.

The hour-long special follows USA Basketball Women’s National Team head coach Dawn Staley as she leads the U.S. Olympic Team in pursuit of the USA’s seventh consecutive gold medal.

“Faced with extending the legacy of the U.S. Olympic Women’s Basketball Team, coach Staley, and the team, led by legendary five-time Olympic gold medalists Sue Bird and Diana Taurasi, showed remarkable resiliency and determination in battling through the one-year postponement of the Olympics and an extremely small window of pre-Olympic preparation to again claim gold in Tokyo,” said Jim Tooley, USA Basketball CEO. “A Team for the Ages: The Story of the USA Basketball Women’s National Team, presented by Nike, offers remarkable behind the scenes insight to the team’s challenges and ultimately to its coming together to successfully claim the Olympic title.”

The special includes five-time Olympians Sue Bird and Diana Taurasi; four-time Olympian Sylvia Fowles; three-time Olympian Tina Charles; Brittney Griner and Breanna Stewart, who were competing on their second Olympic team; as well as well as rising internationals stars including Ariel Atkins, Napheesa Collier, Skylar Diggins-Smith, Chelsea Gray, Jewell Loyd and A’ja Wilson, who were seeking their first Olympic gold this past summer.

Go behind the scenes as the documentary gives viewers an exclusive, inside look at the team’s training and practices with players and coaches mic’ed up from training camp in Las Vegas through to its ultimate goal in Tokyo.

A Team for the Ages: The Story of the USA Basketball Women’s National Team, presented by Nike was produced by Winik Media in association with USA Basketball and NBA Entertainment.
