Coinbase Becomes First Crypto Platform of USA Basketball
Coinbase Global, Inc. (Coinbase), USA Basketball and the NBA today announced a multiyear partnership that makes Coinbase the official cryptocurrency platform partner of USA Basketball, the NBA, WNBA, NBA G League and NBA 2K League. Coinbase will become the presenting partner of USA Basketball men’s and women’s national team exhibition tours.
The deal, which marks the first cryptocurrency platform partnership for USA Basketball and each of the four leagues, will consist of unique content, innovations, activations and experiences from Coinbase to educate fans on the increasing advancements happening across the cryptoeconomy.
“USA Basketball is excited to announce its partnership with Coinbase – a first in this emerging category,” said Jim Tooley, USA Basketball CEO. “Coinbase is a trusted cryptocurrency platform, and we look forward to engaging our fans in unique and innovative ways through this partnership.”
USA Basketball men’s and women’s national teams, FIBA’s No. 1-ranked teams in the world, have opportunities over the next three years to compete in exhibition games, most notably ahead of the 2022 FIBA World Cup for Women, 2023 FIBA World Cup for Men and the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.
