Women's U18 trials roster 2022

Thirty Athletes Expected to Participate at USA Basketball Women's U18 National Team Trials

USA Basketball today announced 30 athletes expected to participate at the 2022 USA Basketball WU18 National Team trials at the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Trials begin May 31 with the 12-member team expected to be announced June 3 with competition at the 2022 FIBA U18 Women’s Americas Championship in Buenos Aires from June 13-19.  

 

Athletes attending trials were selected by the USA Basketball Women’s Junior National Team Committee. Participants represent the high school graduating classes of 2022 and 2023.

 

The class of 2022 includes Isuneh Brady, KK Bransford, Alyssa Crockett, Kailyn Gilbert, Ashlon Jackson, Londynn Jones, Cotie McMahon, Tonie Morgan, Indya Nivar, Kyla Oldacre, Justine Pissott, Kiki Rice, Sa’Myah Smith, Lazaria Spearman, Grace VanSlooten and Ruby Whitehorn.  

 

From the class of 2023 are Lenee Beaumont, Jasmine Brown, Essence Cody, Audi Crooks, Aalyah Del Rosario, Montaya Dew, Katy Eidle, Janae Kent, Chloe Kitts, Alyssa Latham, S’Mya Nichols, Courtney Ogden, Ashlynn Shade and Sophie Swanson.

 

Bransford, Jones and Rice were members of the USA Women’s U16 National Team that earned the gold medal over Canada at the 2019 FIBA U16 Women’s Americas Championship in Puerto Aysen, Chile. Basham, Brady, Jackson, Morgan, Nichols, Nivar, Spearman and VanSlooten were at trials.

 

Additionally, Bransford was a participant at the 2019 USA Basketball 3x3 U18 National Championship with Her-ricanes, while Rice was a member of the 2021 USA Basketball 3x3 U18 World Cup Team, which secured the gold medal over Spain in Debrecen, Hungary. Both were also trials participants for the 2018 USA WU18 National Team.

 

Joni Taylor will serve as the USA’s head coach.

 

In related news, FIBA recently announced that the USA drew Group B with Colombia, El Salvador and Puerto Rico. Group A consists of Argentina, Brazil and Mexico. The eight teams are competing for one of four Americas zone spots at the 2023 FIBA U19 Women’s World Cup.

 

The USA has won the last nine editions of the FIBA Americas Championship and 10 of the 12 championships held since its inception in 1988.
