USA Falls in Semifinals at 3x3 U23 Women’s Nations League Final
The United States fell in the semifinals at the FIBA 3x3 U23 Women’s Nations League Final, advancing to the penultimate round with a pair of impressive wins before falling to eventual champion France, 21-13. The event began Wednesday in Constanta, Romania.
In Friday’s semifinal match, Maddy Siegrist led the United States in scoring with five points. After France extended its lead to seven points midway through the game, the Americans pulled to within four points (17-13) with under a minute remaining. However, a two-pointer and a pair of free throws from France captured the win and punched their ticket to the final.
USA advanced to the semifinals with an impressive 22-11 win over Lithuania (U21). The team led wire-to-wire and leaned on their impressive defense to slow Lithuania’s scoring from beyond the arc. Siegrist led the team with nine points and six rebounds. Alyssa Ustby contributed seven points.
Siegrist led the USA in scoring for the tournament, tallying 24 points through four games.
On Wednesday, the United States went 1-1 to advance to the knockout stage.
